I was thinking for weeks now if i should try vbseo, i still don't know if i did the right think, i hope so. I really want to boost my forum activity. The site does pretty good. My biggest concern is that i use a 3d party cms which has not seo plugin. I read somewhere that vbseo can do that job somehow, anyway i still have a lot of digging in this forum.

I installed the latest vbseo and vbseo sitemap today on 1/12/2007
I will try to update you every week, hopefully with good results

Ok it's not yet a full week, but i found some time to post these information.

Google - site:3dacc.net - 7,320 + 30
Yahoo - 3D Accelerator - 7,819 +2111
MSN - site:3dacc.net - 1,225 -401
ASK - 3D Accelerator site:3dacc.net - 3 (lol) +0


Since most of the indexed pages are from the main site it's hard to estimate how good vbseo is doing on my site. Site stats though show a very small improvement for google referers. Yahoo and vbseo do a good work, yahoo bots seem more happy with the new urls in forums. As i check the results i think google cares more to update the indexed pages first before adding the new pages. Yahoo cares more for the new pages.

MSN confuses me a lot. When i check site:3dacc.net it shows 1225 results but if i check site:3dacc.net/forums it shows 2,379 results, maybe msn thinks they are two different sites. MSN doesn't have even one of the new urls in its index.

In the future after i see the results for forums i plan to apply vbseo on the main site too. 4000-5000 pages waiting there...

It's been two weeks now using vbseo+vbseo sitemap, i am starting to enjoy this very much lol. The results i start to get really please me.


First of all this week i did some extra work.
First i made a couple of addons to include my main site pages in the sitemap. I submited my sitemap (the google format as suggested somewhere) to yahoo.

So let's get started

Google - site:3dacc.net - 8,110 + 790
Yahoo - 3D Accelerator - 11,904 +4085
MSN - site:3dacc.net - 1,180 1,225 -45

Google always had more indexed pages than any other search engine. Yahoo changed that really fast, about msn i have no idea wtf is doing lol

It's been more than a week since the last update these are today numbers


Google - site:3dacc.net - 8,680 + 570
Yahoo - 3D Accelerator - 12,680 +776
MSN - site:3dacc.net - 1,258 +33


Not much more to say, except that i noticed a small improvement over the visits from the google and yahoo search. I have registered with the google analytics when i got vbseo but i will give it one more month before i really start to use that tool. I want to have a full month as reference.

It's been a while since my last report so after 3 months these are my current results

Google - site:3dacc.net - 26.000
Yahoo - 3D Accelerator - 16,516
MSN - site:3dacc.net - 759 (does msn search even work ???)
ASK - 3D Accelerator site:3dacc.net - 79,100 (lol again something is wrong here but anyway)

Your indexing growth looks pretty good. How is your traffic?

In the past i was depending too much on the referrers from other sites and mainly the downloads mirrors i was offering, this tactic isn't bad at all but my traffic wasn't regular. It was more like hit&run, the past 3-4 months i have focused more on my site's content and to a strategy to build regular traffic. The result based on the google analytics is not something i can be proud yet but i am working on it.

The statistics like the increase of the direct access per 11.3% or the increase of the ratio pages/visits shows me i am on the right way, but i still must wait and see... I was hoping for a bigger increase from the search engines, 3.59% over the past 3 months is kinda bad if you consider that google has doubled the amount of the indexed pages.

You never know. If you have a large number of pages indexed, and the ranking algorithm suddenly favorites you site for any of 100s of possible reasons, the entire index can move up in the rankings, creating a landslide of new long tail search traffic for you.

We would like to see better than 4% growth for you, but that's not a bad start. Stick with your strategy, and you'll eventually reap the rewards of your efforts.
