This weekend, I am pulling the site down to put it through a massive overhaul.

The site is currently on IPB 2.1.6


Results 1 - 10 of about 15,000 from hondaswap.com
Lame, considering i have over 670,000 posts there. Plus all the security breaches that have happened lately... i just don't think it's worth it to stay on it any more.

So, it's time to move on. I'm going to be impexing and starting over on vB with vBSEO.


So, this will be the log of a Big site making the move.
home page is a pr3, forums are a pr4.

I'm ditching the homepage, and putting everything in root, and am hoping to move up to a pr5 or pr6.


Google: 15,000
Yahoo: 254,000
MSN: 160


Sad. Very sad.

And to think, 80% of my traffic comes from google each day.... After the move, this site is going to blow up with traffic.

I will keep you all posted on the workings.

yup, i sent an email out earlier this week to my members stating the site will be down for the weekend.

I'm moving from /forums to / (root) and am using a whole new database, so, the old forums still exist (but are turned off), and i can fall-back if needed in an instant.

oh boy, this impex'ing isn't going very well....

Gonna be very interested to see how things go for you after this move to vBulletin and vBseo, Brian.

I can only see this as a good thing for the site. Hope the changeover goes smoothly.

fixed my problem with the impexing system. turns out a re-direct happened to quick for me to read an error message that was coming up. I needed to set the source in the config file to true instead of the default, false.

looks like i'm loosing all my ID correlations too. i thought i could get around it by removing the auto_increment on the tables, but that doesn't seem to be so.

so all my old showtopic.php?id=123 will not be able to 301'ed to the new showthread.php?id=123 :(

Total re-index, coming soon....

wasted 9 hours of my life saying it was something I did wrong, when i knew it wasn't something i did wrong just to give the benefit of the doubt.... and then it does the same thing, and i figure out their problem.

bah....

16 hours into this merge, i'm tired, fed up, and wish i sold it last week instead.....

Just think of the street cred you'll gain by completing the conversion.
