PageRank Doubles in just one month!!

About us...

This month DodgeBoard.com celebrates it's one year anniversary. Founded in Dodge City in 2005, DodgeBoard.com serves not only it's local Dodge City townsfolk, but now boasts visits from 32 of the 50 states and an additional 22 countries throughout the world. Since it's founding in October of 2005, the forum based website has received over half a million hits from local visitors. While about 75% of it's members are from Dodge City, the website welcomes visitors from all of Kansas and has started targeting members on an international level.

Designed within a theme of Dodge City's famous cowboy heritage, DodgeBoard.com offers it's members and visitors local topics, weather, online gaming, debate and sometimes heated discussion in its forum area. Serving to provide its visitors with issues of interest to the community, DodgeBoard.com provides online streaming police scanners, live news feeds, and hot topics about upcoming city and county commission referendums.

Sometimes to the chagrin of it's local community leaders, DodgeBoard.com's members often express strong opinions about the decisions of elected officials. DodgeBoard is 100% owned by it's registered members and was formed to give the citizens of the community the tools to be heard while offering the anonymity to do so without the fear of retribution. The website is a non-profit, content rich internet hangout for visitors of the community to meet and interact with other local residents that share their concerns for a better Dodge City.

Our vbSEO experience...

When we were looking to increase our membership and target the international community, we perused the vbulletin forums looking for the answers. There seemed to be a lot of excitement about the vbSEO product. We decided to give it a try and WOW were we surprised. Our membership signup rate has quadrupled. We now have members from 11 other countries.Within this first month, our Google pagerank has jumped from a 0, to a 2. I can't stop myself from checking every few minutes to see if it has gone up again. While we had a few issues getting the configurations set, Oleg promptly came to our rescue to help us rectify the setups. That guy is really knowledgeable and always seems to have the solutions. My hat is off to the folks at vbSEO for producing such a great product.

Thank You for helping our vbulletin site!

I'd suggest you read up on how exactly the page rank works and how often it is updated. That will most certainly make you realize that vBSEO had very little, if anything, to do with your page rank. It will also make you realize that you are wasting your time by checking it every few minutes.

DUH! I was trying to illustrate my excitement. Sorry you didn't get it!

BTW, you need to do some SEO research and promotion yourself... I noticed your site is still rated a "0"

Actually Google PageRank is being calculated all the time. Visible Google PageRank (as seen in the toolbar) is updated every 3-4 months.

vBSEO does have a very significant impact in boosting Google PageRank for forums. In fact, vBSEO-enabled forums see a significant increase vs. non-vBSEO-ed forums.

Remember - we're not talking about homepage PageRank here, although that also increases. PageRank is distributed to your actual forum display and thread pages.

Although PageRank does not play as strong a role in ranking as it did in the past, it is still a factor. It is believed that PageRank plays in role in determining the crawling priority for a site and promotes deeper indexing, which is very important for forums since they have such a large # of pages being created (i.e. large volume of deep content).

Congrats on your success so far DodgeBoard.

That's because he started it in the beginning of September. You can't get a pagerank for a month and half old site.

While I would take your word for it, it's just not in my nature to do so.

I assume that you have actual research to back the above claim up and that you wouldn't mind sharing it.

Don't get me wrong, I bought vBSEO because I believe in its value, but sweeping statements like the above (without further references) tend to be unsettling.

@the DodgeBoard.com guy
<snip> Pretty much any forum under the sun with halfway decent members who support the forum will get PR 3 during the first PR update.

If you watch the SEO videos put up by that one Google SE team lead then you will find that page SEO is depreciated when it comes to PR, and the main influence on PR comes from quality backlinks.

Please respect all person's viewpoint and avoid insulting anyone.

First point if you make a research you can easily see that vBSEO has an impact on forum threads for PR because of the structure vBSEO offers to forums.

Congratulations on your board. I am glad to read someone else is excited about the product, including the enthusiasm for checking things all the time.

Picture says a thousand words

Not sure why he came to the testimonials forum to troll...seeems there are much more attractive forums for that. Our PR cannot possibly come from linkbacks, since we have 0 linkbacks from outside sources.

It is true what 64North said about me. I don't know a whole lot about pagerank and SEO. That's the beauty of VBSEO, with their product I don't have to be an experienced coder or website designer. I just install the product and watch the ranking and Indexed URLs go up and UP and UP!

This is a graph from Google Crawl Rate Stats Page, showing the progress of our board since the installation of vBSEO. If this doesn't convice the non-believers, nothing will. Graph shows the last 90 days.

Thanks vBSEO, once again!

Thanks for your response Lizard King. However, I apparently don't need to do my own research since Joe Ward seems to have done it already, how else could he state that

All I am asking for is to actually see how this was determined, how many and which sites were part in determining the impact of vBSEO. That doesn't seem to be an unreasonable request given the nature of the above statement.

As stated above...Google constantly updates the PageRank internally, but the public only sees the updates every 3 months, and the last one just finished a week ago.

I can see your rationale, and I feel it's valid. A higher Google PR is evident in vBSEO enabled forums for internal pages, that is, showthread and forumdisplay pages, and secondary content pages such as memberlist and member.php pages. And this is logically explained via the 'link consensus' principle.

Now, regarding the forum homepage PR, I have to agree the role vBSEO plays is significantly less. That is because, apart from it being highly dependant on incoming links, there are also much less URL variations pointing to the forum homepage in the default vBulletin platform: usually forums/index.php, forums/index.php? and forums/index.php?sid=ABC.

vBSEO consolidates these URLs into one, either root (/forums/) or homepage script (/forums/index.php) at the webmaster discretion, creating link consensus towards the homepage URL.
