    Weird nightly issue - vBSEO on Windows ISAPI stops at night

    Hello all,

    Im getting some strange behaviour. Im running on windows and the vbseo works great all day, but then, at some point over night it stops and when i come to the installation on a morning it fails to work - I just get blank pages.

    If i go into my hosting control panel and disable isapi and reenable it it works fine.

    A problem with the host you might say, well i thought that, but, the isapi rule i use elsewhere on the site works even when the vbseo one doesnt - any ideas?

    check your error logs. There should be something that tells you what exactly is failing. I'll put $5 on iisworker process

    ok, so the site now isnt working, which is wierd and on a page with just
    PHP Code:
    <?php
    phpinfo
    ();
    ?>
    im getting

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONSTANT_ENCAPSED_STRING, expecting ',' or ';' in D:\Domains\organiclinker.com\wwwroot\forums\vbseo. php on line 65
    which is wierd - any ideas?

    Im still flummoxed by this.

    Any tips on how i might find out why it fails, the page loads like

    http://www.organiclinker.com/forums/...g-eco-organic/

    no idea why it is failing.

    As i have said each night it fails, then if i log into my hosting acc and uninstall and reinstall isapi rewrite it works. Im desperate, and not sure my host knows where/what to look for

    any help/suggestions at all are welcomed :(

    im essentially just losing money as my vbseo is currently pointless

    All i can personally suggest is to ditch windows and iis altogether and move to centOS/apache.

    How are you loading isapi rewrite?
    Are you using rewrite proxy?

    This sounds like your app pool is crashing. Check application errors in event viewer and post any w3wp errors or faulting server applications. Post them here and I can track down the problem for you.

    Ok,

    Something that I have discovered is that it stops every 29 hours exactly.

    seems very strange :(

    Do what we have done, set the application pool to recycle every 60 minutes.

    Ok, well this seems to have nailed down the fault - I asked my host to do as you mention and now the ISAPI Rewrite fails every hour - any idea how to fix this?

    Hi Mike

    I don't know what software you use for ISAPI Rewrite, but we use ISAPI_Rewrite 3 - Apache mod_rewrite compatible module for IIS and have seven sites using it with no issue. We did have an issue with what you are explaining, on a lot earlier version. Currently it is on 0053 and the problems were before version 0045 ish.

    Maybe your host is using that same software? If so maybe worth a shot at checking which version, and if an old one, see if he is prepared to upgrade?

    Other than that I don't know what to suggest.

    Upgrading to v3.x sounds like a good idea.

    Have you checked event viewer like I suggested? The app pool is faulting and if you post the error the problem can be tracked down. One thing you could do is create a new app pool for your forum and only run the forum in that pool.
