Post vBulletin 3.8.6 Upgrade (with vbSEO 3.5.2) to vBulletin 4.1.1 Links Don't Work

    Hi there,

I'm in the process of upgrading our installation of vbSEO 3.8.6 with the latest version of vbSEO (3.5.2) already installed. When I activate the plugin after the upgrade, none of our links work with the new system. We can't even navigate the site using the forum front end, with the vBulletin system reporting 'Forum not found errors'.

Any instruction on how to get the links within the site, and the thousands of links from Google working again will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance!

Hi with the impending VB Version 3 phase out, this has been bought back to my attention. Mert, would you be able to further clarify what steps I need to take. For example the htaccess file. Which htaccess file am I looking for and where should the file correctly be? Also, regarding the VBSEO product file, where should this be and how can I check this have been correctly imported?

    Thank you!

    Exclamation

I think I could also go into a bit more detail to further clarify my problem: After upgrading when I hover over a link I get
as opposed to the original link (prior to upgrade) which was
    Code:
    http://www.website.com/forum-location/forum-board-name/my-great-thread-title_50508.html

All links since the upgrade after formatted as per the VB4 style, not my preferences within vbSEO. Also the links don't work, they take me to a "Invalid Forum specified. If you followed a valid link....etc". When vbSEO is turned off, the links work fine and keep the same format as when vbSEO is turned on. When I try to be clever and manually create links using the vbSEO structure defined (so looking at threads that existed before the upgrade and using their vbSEO links that used to work) they still take me to a "Invalid Forum specified. If you followed a valid link....etc" page. In short. If vbSEO is turned on, all links die.

    Edit:
So I've just changed a setting within the vB Control panel: vBulletin friendly URL rewrite setting to standard urls. This makes the forum links work, but when clicking on threads it returns a white page.

    Please help!

Both items you need are in the vbseo download package. The htaccess folder holds the files for various webservers, and the product imports are in the do not upload folder, one for vb3, one for vb4. You will obviously need to import the vb4 product file.
Once imported, do NOT touch any of the vb- default url settings, as none of those should be used at all. vbseo sets them correctly upon product import and should not be touched after.

Be sure to review the readme.html file in the docs folder as well as it contains full instructions.
