    VBSeo slowing my site down?

This seems to really be slowing my site down on the server. Are there any settings I can modify to lighten the load because on a peak day (which today is) it's slowed down dramatically.

    Thoughts??

Have you tried this already: vBSEO Optimization Tips

Also what do you have defined for: Limit URL Length in your vbseocp

    Ugh...this is brutal.

LIMIT URL Length is set to 0. What should I set it to to help with this? I'm also going to try and see if I can move the .httaccess to the other file as mentioned in the other link. Will that hopefully lighten the load?

All in that thread should help. If it is 0, then that setting should be fine. Some servers set it to something like 40 and it adds a big load. I see that your URLs do not have the ID in them, that also might be a problem.

Hi Michael, thank you for your assistance. I'm the panel right now and trying to tweak it. How do I correct the point mentioned above?

I just shut the plugin off. I'll have to mess with it later on this evening as with it on the board is just unaccessable.

Any suggestions you may have are greatly appreciated, as I do love the plugin and the potential...I guess we just need to tweak it so the performance isn't affected as much.

Hi Michael, just to follow up, how would I add that value to what you mentioned earlier:

I see that your URLs do not have the ID in them, that also might be a problem.

You would need to have [forum_id] and [thread_id] in the URLs. Hit the + arrow under the Forum URLs option.

Got it. By including those values, does that make the server not have to "think" so much?

I had tech support move the .htaccess file to the other as you said, and they've since deleted it and everything is functioning correctly. I've added all the values to the url's and they're appearing. I've shut down trackbacks, linkbacks, etc. and it's still slower. Any other suggestions? This one has me baffled

Tweaked it some more and it appears the load has dropped. Hopefully now I can concentrate on updating my other thread in the other forum with good news instead

Glad to hear you got your load better. What settings did you change that made the most impact?
