vbseo.php causing the server load to jump above 35

Account Warning: Your account is running a script (vbseo.php) which is causing the server load to jump above 35, resulting in slow and unresponsive service for all sites on the server, including your own. This script has been disabled (/public_html/forums/vbseo.php) and cannot be used as it is too resource intensive.

I just got this mail from my host. Strange thing is I have been using VBSEO for over a week now and never had a problem. Any idea what could have went wrong?

If you have, please open a Support Ticket with information on your Server Config (CPU/RAM/HDDs etc) and a link to your phpinfo page.

vbseo.php processes EVERYTHING. So, while it looks like it's just that one script causing the load, its really EVERY OTHER script going THROUGH vbseo.php.


All in all, it sounds like you're on hostgator... Nothing new there. I highly recommend moving hosts.

are currently 6 active accounts hosted on the server.

THat should be plenty... yes? The server usually runs below 1 and just started spiking yesterday afternoon.

The site normally has 200 people browsing at any time...

Everything depends on the activity on that sites. On your site what is your concurrant user+guest number with 15 minute cookie timeout.
Also can you please share a phpinfo file so we can check.

For the last week the server never ran above 3. Now if I activate the plugin it spikes almost immediatally to 16 EVEN IF THE FORUMS ARE TURNED OFF! I had to uninstall the SEO for the time being. I am going to try to do a fresh reinstall and see if that helps.

It looks like you are running cgi version of php. I suggest you to recompile php as apache module. As cgi version uses way more resources. If you donot effectively use ioncube , you may want to remove the loaders also. And instead of eaccelerator you should try to switch xCache or APC which both have better results.
