vBSEO may be causing us some problems...

For sometime now we have had an issue with quick reply and quick edit in vbulleton taking a long time to load... they hang. The only plugin I've installed since this started is release candidates from here. In order to check and see if vBSEO is in fact the problem, I need to be able to disable it. However, when I disable it, there is no quick edit for me to test. Why does vBSEO need to alter QE anyway? Disabling vBSEO makes the entire forum look wierd. How can I turn off vBSEO and the forum act like a normal forum?

For instance, the post in Forum Rules on our board is one I edit all along. When I go to Quick Edit, edit the post and try to Save, it hangs. The only way to get it to actually save is to Go Advanced. When I disable vBSEO in Manage Products, there is no image for Edit button... just text, and then when I click on it, it takes me to Go Advanced instead of Quick Edit. Disabling vBSEO disables Quick Edit for some reason.

You can disable the product in AdminCP and remove the .htaccess file and it will work normally.

Disabling vBSEO should have no effect on QuickEdit, so that's probably related to something else.

I have seen this issue with the quick replay and quick edit basically since vbulletin released it on forums with and without vbseo.

Well the unfortunate part is I cannot get it fixed and I cannot get support from vBulletin until I complete remove vBSEO... which is a royal pain. I have links that use the vBSEO urls... all of which have to be changed.

And the thing is, I didn't start experiencing these problems until I started upgrading RC's for vBSEO.

The only option is a box with urls for pinging. How do you disable this? Do you just remove the urls?

Sorry if I am missing something obvious.

It's too late... I had to complete remove anything to do with vBSEO before vBulletin would offer support.

It's been a nightmare too. All those links with vBSEO URLs now get 404 Errors. I was using a lot of vBSEO links for my sub-forums and had to go through and change all of those as well. Of course anyone running up on one of our links on search will get the 404 for now.

What I don't understand is how many vBulletin boards are out there running smoothly with vBSEO? There has to be thousands. I cannot for the life of me understand why they would not offer support with vBSEO installed... knowing that most likely (99.999% likely) that it's NOT vBSEO causing the problems.

You can use the old links on your site, and vBSEO will change them, so that should make that part of it a little easier when you disable vBSEO at least.

For the record... our problems has absolutely nothing to do with vBSEO. It had everything to do with the server we were on.... php hardening and mod_security. We moved to our own dedicated server and twala... problems gone. So... I finally got all those gazillion mods/plugins and my favorite plugin (vBSEO) installed again.

The only reason I suggested that vBSEO might be the problem is because one specific vBulletin tech (Steve M.) stated he had seen it cause problems.

Anyway, I uninstalled everything for no reason.

I'm wondering, with so many people using vBSEO with vBulletin, couldn't you guys work together somehow to get vBSEO approved for use with vBulletin? Them refusing to offer support because it is installed is really aggravating. I was even instructed that I would have to remove the php, xml, etc. files from the server. You know the pain it is... it would be super nice if it was approved somehow.

They just can't offer support on software they don't develop and can't see the code from. And vbSEO is quitte easy to disable because they have made a nice product you can import and disable it.

vbulletin isn't going to support anything but a stock version. That goes for every modification there is. Has always been that way, will always be that way.
