In the config file, the copyright footer is set to 8)
SEO by vBSEO 3.0.0 RC6 © 2006, Crawlability, Inc. but the footer on my pages are showing as 7)

I double checked the file, reedited the file and uploaded but still get the same notice. The affiliate code is set blank.

perhaps you have "acronym expansion" option in vbseocp containing:
SEO -> Search Engine Optimization
