VBSEO flat out doesn't work right :)

    site: The Cayman Club

    I have installed vBSEO Gold.
Forum is in public_html root directory
    currently running vBulletin 3.6.7 PL1
    vBulletin Advance 3.0 RC1 CMPS

Upon activating the plugin and renaming htaccess.txt to .htaccess a few problems happen:

    1) /index.php which is normally our vbadvanced home page cannot be reached 404 error

    2) originally had it rewriting thread urls only, thta was the only part of the site that worked, other areas like members, or vbadvanced parts did not work.

    3) We installed the plug-in and nothing on the site works we get a 404 error for everything

    4) We searched and found that we were supposed to change the execution order for the VBSEO global hook to 10, we did that, that didn't make any difference.

Please help me get this working on my site! Thanks!

If I have .htaccess uploaded and VBSEO on and the plug-in active my site forums don't work, and neither does the home page or the member profiles. Other pages do work, ones not handled by VBSEO.

Yes I submitted a ticket. Yes I got an initial response asking me if I had uploaded .htaccess - well duh, yeah. Ok so I responded that my site is DOWN if VBSEO is ON, and I was sitting here waiting with my site down for some support. 30 minutes later no response to my trouble ticket posts or PM's so I have no choice but to turn VBSEO OFF (not sure how anyone is going to trouble shoot it with it off) so that my forums will be working again.

DO they ever schedule support call times or something?

Support is delivered via our ticketing system only. A team member will provide you with further assistance asap.

    Joe,
I've been monitoring the support ticket and there has been no response for an hour now, again it is getting late, I can't sit around waiting for someone to happen by, is there some way we can schedule this? I'll stick around for another 10-15 mins to see if anyone shows up. If they do I'll reactivate VBSEO on my site so they can see what is going on, but right now VBSEO is off so that my forums will work.

    Thanks for the response!

    Joe,

I waited an additional 30 minutes since last posting and still no one has shown up over on my trouble ticket. It's late, I've got to get going. Is there any way to schedule support for a certain day/time? As I said previously if I turn on VBSEO my forums will be down so I'd like to have a support time scheduled if possible to get this fixed. Thanks in advance!

ken, some quick suggestions which may help you a little bit before support can get to you.

firstly, you have index.php as vba, and forums.php as your forums.

in the vbseocp.php control panel, there is an alias setting. i believe
    index.php
    index.php?
    are the default choices.

you will want to change those from index to forums.

that should address at least a part of problems 1 & 2

I haven't tinkered with vba, so i don't think i can help further.

    Briansol,
Thanks for the suggestion we tried it with and without that and still it didn't work. This morning I also found that I could no longer sticky or un-sticky a topic using the Thread Tools drop down in ANY forum, it is as if I am no longer an admin, yet I am and yet forum permissions say I should have full access. It is as if VBSEO made a change somewhere and stripped away some of my admin abilities, yet I cannot find where it did so.

As a follow-up my moderators report that in forums they moderate they can still see the full Thread Tools drop down and can sticky or un-sticky threads, but for my admin account I cannot see it in any forum! :(

Woo hoo that worked! Now I can see the choices again. What exactly does that do or what was it that happened?

Now if we could only get VBSEO working. Speaking of which is the ticketing system private here? I was asked for my admincp login and ftp info and I sent that in PM to the person who asked in the ticketing system but that person is no longer online. If someone else needs to troubleshoot can I safely post that information into the ticketing system or do I need to PM someone else?

Regarding Ticket System Privacy - Support tickets can only be viewed by the person who opened them, and the Support Staff.
