vB upgrade from 3.6.7PL1 to 3.6.8 fails due to vBSEO? How to fix?

Guys hope you can help with this

As I'm running 3.6.7PL1 and very nervous about upgrading to 3.6.8 I decided to create a test system to pilot the upgrade.

    So far I've:

    • Created a password protected directory
    • Copied all my live files into it
    • Made a copy of the live database
    • Uploaded the new upgrade files from the 3.6.8 archive
    • Edited the new config.php file to look at the new DB and paths
and all I get when I try to run the install script is:

    PHP Code:
Fatal errorUnable to read 26365 bytes in /home/windows/public_html/forums_test/vbseo.php on line 0
    I've now also:

    1) edited by hand the vbseo.php script to disable the mod, and also change the paths to the new forum
    2) Edited the vB config.php file added the following line after <?php

    define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

but no changes still the same error given.

I've contacted the guys at Jetsoft but they advise that this is a vBSEO issue and you are the guys to speak to.

Anyone any ideas on how to get out of this mess otherwise it looks like I dare not even try the upgrade on the live system.

    HELP!

Please re-upload all vBSEO files in BINARY Mode.

    This will resolve this issue

Cheers for that I'm now recopying all the files over from a backup using a different FTP program.

This time I'll verify I have a working test system before trying the upgrade.

Will feed back if we have any more issues.

    Cheers for the swift reply!

Thanks Phil, I've managed to get around the first stage of proceedings which was to re upload all the files using a different FTP program and it looks like they are loading.

The only issue now is when I try to log in I get redirected to the live forums which I do not think is a vBSEO problem, so back to the guys at Jetsoft as I want to get the test system working independently first before I test the upgrade.

Thanks for the help so far!

    Hey,

you need to update your vBulletin URL.
You copied all files, including database of the live system so it's working at the live system only until you edit your URL.

Secondly a vBSEO test license is required to get vBSEO running on a second domain. Please open a support ticket and let us know the URL of your test instances.

Ah right, I've not turned vBSEO on yet on the test forum - good job too from what you say

Cheetrs for the information over the test ticket - now raised!
