Folks, I'm experiencing this problem across 3 different vB forums (all with vbSEO). It *is* a serious problem. I have not been able to pin down any consistent reason as to why it affects some members and not others. I myself only experience the problem on one of my 3 similarly configured forums.

If you check the thread I linked in my last post, you will find a poll. Approximately 35% of members who responded to the poll claim to be experiencing the problem on that forum (though I myself have zero problems on that site).

On the forum where I myself am experiencing the problem, the "remember me" check box has no effect. The forum will log me out at random times - when trying to post a message is the absolute most aggravating. I have to copy/paste *everything* I post on that forum into notepad first because there is no telling when the forum will suddenly log me out.

Is it possible that there is an issue with the cookie and server clock or something like that? I don't know enough about cookies to say. But I can't seem to figure out any reason based upon vB configuration settings or plug ins.

Your .htaccess content

Your cookie domain setting

Your defined forum adress within admincp

My .htaccess file is huge. I'll open a ticket and post it and the other details there.

OK. I think I see the problem.

I saw the recommendations about the 301 redirect, but there was some confusion on my end because there is more than one .htaccess file on my site.

I have my forums located in folders off of the domain roots. I *do* have the 301 redirects set up in the .htaccess files located in the domain roots. I did *not* have the 301 redirects active in the vBSEO .htaccess files located in the respective forum folders.

I've enabled the 301 on the forum folder vBSEO .htaccess file on the site where I was experiencing the log out problem and it appears to have resolved the problem. It can take a while for the problem to present itself, however, so I will need to do more testing before I'm satisfied the problem is for sure resolved. I'll follow up here if the problem continues.

I was about to reply to you and say all was fixed after VBSEO went in and checked my htaccess code. It was until I got this message from a member (annoyingly familiar). I will update the thread:

"there is a big problem with the forum login process. Its killing me!

everytime i come to sign in and after entering the username and password. the application wont login, instead it redirects me back to the member login page as f i didnt enter my username and password. Plus if you login succefullly and try to reply to your PM's it would redirect me again to the member login page. I had to sign in again and compose a new msg which have worked.

However my htaccescode might have been changed. Stay tuned.

As i explained in response 36 , the issue Bernard was facing caused missing 301 redirects. He had 301 redirects on his root .htaccess however his forum .htaccess didn't had those 301 redirect rules. As subfolder .htaccess will overwrite root .htaccess it was causing a problem on his side.

Please post your .htaccess here so we can assist you with correct 301 redirect rules.

Got you. Im on support with it and I asume it is the same problem.
