You should not change it, keep it defined as "/".

You should also setup redirection from non-www domain to www domain as described in 301 Redirecting Domains

I also had this problem and found out the .domain.ext was the problem. maybe this should be mentioned during setup? i spent countless hours and lost many posts due to this simple problem. thanks....

You had to add it or remove it to fix the problem?

I tried adding that to my site yesterday, but when I tried opening the forum today, I had to log in again. Maybe it's because I had logged in prior to setting that code. I'll wait and see for a few more days. It's really strange. I have two vBSEO'd forums both using 3.2 gold and vB 3.7.2 PL1 and one of them has all kinds of problems keeping people logged in and the other doesn't. Aggravating...

After you set it, you should delete your cookies, and then load the page again and login. It should take care of your problem.

On one of my forums, there are some members who are experiencing trouble staying logged in while others do not. It's been an ongoing problem for a long time. One of them posted the following today:
so my boyfriend (compsci major) was taking a look to help and heres what he found might be causing firefox to log us out randomly. (cuz ff does seem to be the problem)

So I took a look at what cookies were popping up/disappearing between logins and logouts, and I noticed one thing stood out: When you're logged in, there's the usual vbulletin cookies (eg: bblastactivity) but I also notice that there's an additional variable that pops up: vbseo_loggedin (with the content set to "yes"). When you get magically logged out, this cookie disappears. I'm guessing at some point there's a request to remove this cookie sent to the browser, which Firefox seems to jump on that IE seems to ignore. I did some digging for that cookie name and it seems to be related to an addon called vbseo, which I'm guessing you're using...
This forum has the same .htaccess and cookie/domain set up as my other forums. One of the other forums does the same thing to me. The third one runs stable and no one has problems staying logged in. It's really aggravating.
I'm using vbSEO for my precious metals forum.

I have this problem as well and it is a serious problem since Vbulleton ingores it and point fingers at VBSEO. People are logged out mainly from the Forum Index page but not the other pages.

This problems usually goes away when clicking "Remember me" but still, you shouldnt be loggged out during / in the middle of a session regardless if you click the "Remember me" box or not.

"I am having this problem with Safari 4.0.3 running on OS X Snow Leopard"

"Im using regular internet explorer. I have better luck using firefox but with explorer, i cant log in. It takes me to the please click her eif your browser doesnt forward you page but then it goes right back to the log in page."

"Im using internet explorer version 8.0.6001.18813. It seems to work better with firefox"

If you don't click Remember Me box , your session will timeout. That is default vBulletin setting. It doesn't have to do with vBSEO.

    That is not the case.

You are IMMIDEATLY loggoed out / never logged in on the startpage; it never acknowledges your login the secodn after you logged in.

    Very conufusing for members.

I beleive we have a pattern; there are other forusm with this problem as well as seen in this thread.
