Users getting logged out

Hi there,

I'm experiencing a problem with my vbforum. I have only installed ONE addon to it, and that's vbseo, so people at vbulletin.com won't help since it's not a fresh install. They told me to ask here or reinstall the forum without any addons.

Have there been any known errors in vbseo that logges users in the forum out when they use different actions like posting, searching etc.. ?

Hello,

it may be related to the cookie settings and setting up domain redirection might help:

anything else it could be? according to the users that didn't solve anything.

I tried to disable vbseo, and that actually solved it! But I don't want to run a forum without vbseo, so this isn't really an option :/

Please open a support ticket with vbseocp access and description on how to reproduce the issue. Thank you.

I'm having the same problem on my forums. While it doesn't happen to me (using Firefox), I get complaints from many users. There are reports about it on the vbulletin.com forum from many webmasters as well and even this quote from their support staff:
"I have recently handled several support tickets for customers running vBSEO that had these any other problems that went away when vBSEO was removed or disabled."

This seems to a bug that could be difficult to fix, since it is seemingly random, but I think a solution is badly needed. Any updates from the vBSEO staff?

Make sure that...
  • ...your cookie domain in vBulletin Options -> Cookie Settings is selected from the dropdown, and it is .domain.ext (Note the period at the beginning.)
  • ...your cookie path in vBulletin Options -> Cookie Settings is selected from the dropdown, and is /
  • ...all the paths defined in your vBulletin Options -> URL section have the WWW in front of them.
  • ...you set up a redirect to keep all users on the WWW version of your URL: 301 Redirecting Domains
When any of these items isn't set correctly, it's possible for the users to be logged out.

I made the change from the "blank" cookie domain (though "blank" was suggested by the vBulletin). All others are already as suggested.

I've sent three tickets to your support now, and the problem is still there! Seriously, isn't there any solutions to this?

zdrv, tell me something about your board. Url? Have you installed any other addons except vbseo? Maybe we can find a pattern..

Some sites choose not to use the www subdomain and if that is your preference then you would need to make sure that all those paths do not contain this subdomain in them.

You need to use one or the other for best results. Follow the steps in the last bullet item I posted above to keep all users on the same URL.

You should update all defined URLs in your vBulletin config to the non WWW version, since that it the version you are using. I see that at least one of them still is defined with WWW.

You should also upgrade to vBSEO 3.0.0 Gold. I see that you are still on RC8.

Also try deleting your cookie and setting a new one with the current settings.
