Usernames with special characters (e.g., hyphen) go to wrong profile

I've seen this error reported a few times, and the solution has been to add the user_id to the URL, but I'm looking for a fix for vB 4.0/vBSEO 3.5 similar to this one:

Yes this does exist it is in vbseocp -> General Settngs -> Character Replacement -> Advanced Settings -> Enable special characters in member URLs ? -> ON
