Usernames & permissions problems, question, etc.

Since installing vbSEO, I have received a number of complaints from users abut two general issues:

    1. Some people's usernames don't correctly correspond to their profiles. For example: For a member with a name like "john doe" - if you click on their profile, it shows the profile of "john_doe", even though the URL says the profile is for "john-doe". I have a number of members with similar usernames like this. What can I do to fix this?

    2. Some members are reporting that their user permissions are in issue, as they cannot access certain forums, even though their member profile in the vBAdmin CP shows they have access. Any idea how/why that may have happened? (I ran the vB maintenance scripts in my Admin CP already)

Also, I have not seen any signifigant increase in traffic since installing vbSEO a couple of weeks ago. Is there something else I need to do, or something I should be looking for or way to gauge how well this may be working?

The only modification I made was to show add archive links for all pages for Guests, and implement the social bookmarking icons. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!!

    Hello

    1. What is your member profile url rewrite settings ?

    2. Can you try to rebuild your bitfields. You can build your bitfields domain.com/admincp/index.php?do=buildbitfields

Seo is an ongoing business and it takes at least 3-6 months to see the results. I advise you to stick with your url settings install vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator and track your statistics with a statistics program like Google Analytics.

I have not changed any of the default settings

Ran the command. Will test and see if that fixed it. Thanks

Installed the generator, and will continue to track. Is there anything I need to with things like custom rewrites, redirects, relevant replacements, etc.?

    Thank you

Thank you. I implemented them but your review and comments on them would be greatly appreciated: Disney World Trivia .com Forums

Also, not sure what you mean by " Can you please add member id to your member url-rewrites"

    Thanks again!

In your vbseocp, expand the Rewrites section and look for 'Member Profile' rewrites.

Using the dropdown menu, select one that includes Member id. As these are unique, you will not have the conflicts for people with the same characters in their name.

Just to be sure I'm making the correct selection:

Where it says : Member Profile URL Format Select a member profile URL format or create a custom layout using the field provided.

    I should select: members/[user_id].html

    Thanks

Yes, that is correct. You can also define custom URL format like:
    members/[user_name]-[user_id].html
