URLs ID numbers have moved places in the title

Hi,

It's just come to my attention that the links created by VBSeo have changed and now the links indexed by search engines are wrong.

It appears that the ID assigned to each thread has changed it position from the end, to the start of the segment. I.E

It used to be:
/forum/forum_name/my-thread-title_28971.html

The link above no longer works. Only the following URL works.
/forum/forum_name/28971-my-thread-title.html

the problem is we have over 40k links within Google as the OLD format, and 30k with the new... How do we fix it so that both links work?

vBSEO doesn't modify your thread table at all . If a thread has an id of 777 prior to vBSEO , it will still have 777 with vBSEO.

Thank you for your reply. The thread ID doesn't change, it's its position within the url that changes. Thus creating a totally different url.

You can alter the URL format from within your vBSEOcp

Go to URL Rewrite Settings => Forum URLs => Advanced Settings

and change "Threads" From

[forum_title]/[thread_id]-[thread_title]/

To

[forum_title]/[thread_title]-[thread_id]/

Thank you, the thing is half the site is index one way, and half the other. Is it possible to get both URL's to work?

To add another piece into the puzzle. On the 28th December last year I had to apply a patch to VBSEO as our forum got attacked [ vBSEO Security Bulletin - vBSEO 3.3.2 Released ].

Could applying this patch have changed the order of the URL's. Also, is it possible ot have both URL's mentioned above working again?

/forum/forum_name/my-thread-title_28971.html

in order to redirect these links:

/forum/forum_name/28971-my-thread-title.html

you should add this in .htaccess file right after "RewriteEngine on" line:

RewriteRule ^.+/([0-9]+)-.+[^0-9]\.html vbseo.php?vbseourl=showthread.php&t=$1 [L]

No, the patch doesn't affect existing URL formats.
