    Unregistered and Expired?

I recently upgraded one of my forums to 3.5.3 and tried to upgrade vbSEO at the same time. I am greeted with this error message:

    Code:
[ This copy of vBSEO is unregistered and expired ]
Not a good sign in my book since I am most CERTAINLY registered and have paid for this product.

    What gives?!

Does the team here have the website address for which the Licensed copy of VBSEO is running on? If not, that is your problem.

I had a working copy of VBSEO prior to doing the upgrade and when I purchased my licenses (I did a bulk purchase) -- I gave them a list of all the URL's, this one included.

Jhon, the issue appears because when upgrading your copy of vbulletin, your datastore table was cleared. vBSEO's license key is stored there.

This issue is resolved in vBSEO 2.4.0 which displays your license key via your Control Panel and enables you to save the key in your config file.

Nope, I've added your site to the database. You can go ahead and install 2.3.2 in the mean time. It will retrieve the license key automatically from our server.

No you're not screwed in the wait for vBSEO 2.4.0 - I am sure Juan will have another alternative for you to try, but I would go into the Admincp and make vBSEO inactive or delete the plug-in and either keep it like that until the new version is out, or try to reinstall the Plug-in only and see if that helps any.

I just re-enabled vbseo and its still giving me the same error.

Disabling vbseo is all well and good, but when you see hundreds of errors in your error_log floating by because people are no longer get to URL's they are expecting to be there, you get a little concerned (as I am) -- especially when the problem lies with the licensing issue which clearly needs to have some type of grace period put in...

what happens if the VBSEO servers go down and everyones software cannot be authenticated... we are all screwed.

This could happen in the rare case that your datastore is cleared while our server is down. But yes, is a possibility... that's why we've given complete control of license keys to customers with 2.4.0.

I get the same error as John. Very, very disconcerting. I was not even able to access my board without removing all the text in the htaccess file, then I uninstalled the plugin and removed the .php files.

This will be fixed in version 2.4, you say? When will it be released? I'm not about to go through this headache again if the problem is going to persist.

Question, does the plugin modify the database at all? Will there be any negative consequence to my clearing the .htaccess file, removing the plugin and removing the .php files?

    Thank you...

Any changes done to your database is restored once you uninstall vBSEO or any plug-in (this is the beauty of a plug-in)

So the tables (if any) created by the product were removed when uinstalling the plugin?

Yes uninstalling the product will remove all traces of the mod.

vBSEO plugin doesn't alter the database during installation/uninstallation.
