Total Urls going up Indexed going down.

We have had vbseo installed on our forum for about 8 months and till now the indexed urls have been going up along with the total urls. now when I check lately about the last month the indexed urls has went slowly but steadily been going down from about 2200 to 1940 and the total urls is at 6000 and climbing.

Any incite would be appreciated.

How is your traffic? Are you seeing a similar decline in traffic, or is it just the indexed page count?

Any messages in your Google Webmaster Tools?

Have you changed anything recently?

What are you including in your sitemap?

Google will NEVER index everything, especially if you're feeding it a lot of 'junk'. I've found that nearly NOTHING in forumdisplay gets indexed beyond page 5. so, as your forums grow, and the forum pagination grows, your count will go up but those pages likely won't become a serp.

Our traffic has stayed about the same maybe a little less. Haven't changed anything since we setup vbseo.

That's very good. You see the indexed page count is not very accurate and is *expected* to fluctuate. It does that for all forums.

In general, we certainly expect it to trend upwards as you move forward over time. But the key metric we want you to watch is your actually search hits. That is the absolute best indicator of what's really happening.
