Question Technorati postings and VBSEO

Hi,

I have installed the latest VBSEO Version and I am using Vbadvanced and vbulletin 3.7 Beta 5.

Now I was wondering how I can publish my postings on Technorati. I have claimed my site yesterday with Technorati and the ping is working as well. Is there a specific time I have to wait until the postings are published or do I have to do something else?

Can I also specify how often I want to ping technorati with new posts?

Hello,

If you have "Update Services" option enabled in vbseocp, vBSEO will ping Technorati every time a new thread is created on your forum.

I have those entries in "Update Services". So I guess it should be enabled?:

http://rpc.pingomatic.com
http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping
http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2

Is there something else I have to consider?

Are there any other Services I can add there?

It should be pinged then. There are many other services, but those are the major ones and are more than enough in most cases.

Strange, that they do not appear as postings in Technorati. Maybe it takes a few days until they appear?

Question

On my technorati account it still says:

"There are no posts from xyz favorite blogs"

Does anybody had the same experience and knows what to do?

When new thread is created, vBSEO sends your RSS feed URL to defined services, so it's up to Technorati when and how to process new pages found in the feed, it may take a while.

it seems like you have to make a post, or add the technorati code on your forum at first, like "claim your blog"
but it does work fine with vbseo enabled forums, check it out.

I had the same problem and doing the following helped me get found by the spiders:
  1. Turn off your Google Analytics outgoing link tracking if you have it enabled: vBSEO Control Panel > General Settings > Log & Tracking Options.
  2. Make sure the link you posted is available on the home page of your forum clear and in the open. The way I managed this, was to enable the post in my vBadvanced news items posting and have it appear briefly on the Home Page.

My post ping didn't seem to activate, so the only thing I can recommend is making the link available on the home page. As a last resort, just throw the HTML for the link into the footer of your template so it gets found.

Don't forget to remove it after it gets found.

Thanks for your help. I will try it out. Can I activate Analytics later on again?

Sure. Activate it immediately after you have successfully claimed your blog.

Remember, it's not Analytics as a whole you need to disable, just the outgoing links option.

Oleg, how does technorati know what's my forum RSS URL?

I have a rel tag on my header, which points to feedburner, but technorati grabs the RSS from the joomla frontpage.
