"Submit Reply" very slow

When a user creates a new post with a lot of links (internal and external) the page takes a long time to return once "Submit Reply" is clicked. For example, one post I tested took 3 seconds with vBSEO turned off and 41 seconds when it is on.

I set "Add Page Titles to External Links Anchor Text?" to "no" but the slowness still existed. What other options should can I tweaked to improve the performance?

What do you have in your vbseocp.php for "Update Services"?

Should I remove these?

btw - if the new post has no links, the submit time is under 3 secs.

In that case, it's more likely that the sites being linked to are returning the page titles slowly.

Is it just as slow if you turn Add Page Titles to External Links Anchor Text? on/off?

I have that off too.

The long post takes at least 40 seconds when I submit it. The shorter post below that takes a second or two. If I totally turn vBSEO off, the long post with a lot of links only takes 3 seconds to submit.

BTW - thanks for the help. I posted on vborg as CyberRanger. Didn't mean to cause a problem over there.

It's probably a good idea at this point for you to submit a Support Ticket .. Oleg or Keith will probably want to take a look at your settings.

I am pretty certain it has to do with the external site being bombarded with requests for page (and Zip File) contents.

Does the same thing occur if you submit the post with only URLs to *pages* and remove the ones to zip files?

Another question: Does this occur only when using Quick Reply, or also when using Reply (Go Advanced)?

And, in Firefox only? IE only? Both?

ah, that's very true. I did a page with links to a bunch of pages and it loaded in under 2 seconds (with getting external titles off). I'll open the ticket unless you can tell me here what to do about the links to the zip files.

Here's hoping the lads will be able to figure out a way of retrieving those .zip file titles quickly, or perhaps excluding them from the parse.
