Site moved need to do some kind of forwarding

    Hi
I moved my site from one domain to another. The old domain is currently on page 1 of google. But the links on it do not forward to the new site. Is there some kind of forwarding system I can use which would forward the links to the new forum? The threads are still there but just in another domain.

For example a search on google to disney world forum brings my old site www.disneyworldonline.co.uk/forum to 8th. Not bad considering that was before I got vbseo
    It is now www.wdwplanningforum.com/forum

I have setup a forwarding on my hosting so if someone types in disneyworldonline.co.uk/forum it then goes to the new site. But how do I do each individual thread etc? The forum has been physically deleted from the folder now and is only on the new site, but google thinks it is still there. I do not want to lose my position really..

    Thanks

How do you have the old domain setup? Does it have its own folder with some hosting, or is it redirected directly from the URL.

    Hi
The old domain and the new one are with the same hosting company and on the same hosting package / server. I have it forwarded for the domain for example you type in disneyworldonline.co.uk/forum and it redirects to wdwplanningforum.com/forum but on google when you search for disney world forum my site is 8th and it is not the root that is listed for some reason, so it is a broken link because the forum has been moved. Is there a way to forward everything that is clicked on disneyworldonline.co.uk/forum/linkhere to wdwplanningforum.com/forum/linkhere ?

Or do I need to get each url and do a redirect? I suppose soon google will rank the new site anyway wont it?

Hey Nick, you dont want to loose that traffic, even if google does it quick. How is it being forwarded exactly?

What is in your .htaccess file in your new URL?

    Hiya,
I the .htaccess file is just default and the homepage is blank at the moment. I think vbseo comes with a htaccess file so the /forum folder has one in it which I havent done anything to...

If you search on google "disney world forums"
(disneyworld forums - Google Search) my site is 8th and 9th on the list. I decided to move the site to a new .com domain because I was told US users would not like or would not use a .co.uk domain...

I tried to get help on the vbulletin.com forums and came accross the most unhelpful staff member of any company I have ever come accross in my life. I wanted to originally do a fresh install on my new site but somehow keep all the users, posts and threads but eventually was told it could not be done.

So I moved the forum folder from the public-html on my hosting to the new site (I have about 7 different domains on one server) and it all moved accross fine (apart from the addon facebook connect now does not work) and then I installed vbseo onto the new domain.

Then on my hosting using cpanel I put a rule in that disneyworldonline.co.uk/forum (and /forum.index.php) gets forwarded to the new domain. Which is fine for the root, but for some reason on google my highest placings are forumdisplay.php. Do you think for now I could get the individual url and replace the first part (just the domain name) so it forwards or will it come off google anyway?

So what I mean is go to my cpanel and put www.disneyworldonline.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=43 forwards to http://www.wdwplanningforum.com/foru...splay.php?f=43 and the other one?

There are bound to be other results but just the main ones for now?

Unless I can somehow get every url disneyworldonline.co.uk/forum/url to forward to wdwplanningforum.com/forum/url ?

Sorry I am a complete novice when it comes to all this...

I guess google is going to at some point index the new domain so in theory it should get the same ranking? The site has not had any users for a while mainly because I have been concentrating on other sites and have not posted for a while, so new visitors are bound to think the forum is inactive. I am just getting a new skin made and going to redo the site with a new look to attract users, being on page 1 on google is a helpful start though if I can get the forwarding to work..

Cheers and sorry for being a newbie lol
