Question Server Load Questions.

Hi – firstly, congrats on a great piece of software – I’m very impressed with it.

Just a few questions regarding server load. What sort of load impact does this software create? I’m have load issues at the moment and I’m trying to pin down the software most likely causing it.

If vBSEO does cause a big load, which features should I consider disabling? I don’t want to stop using it all together as I feel the software is of great value.

Also, RC8 says that “A bunch of performance enhancements have been implemented”. Are these enhancements related to search engine optimisation or with regards to server load? I am using RC6 at the moment, but will upgrade to RC8 tonight.

Many thanks.

Mike

You are right, most of the time they sent a PM and forget about other users.

Well, I have vbseo, it have made my site grow a lot, make more money, from 179,000 in alexa to 13,000 in a few months...BUT...vbseo is eating apache!!

My server is horribly slow, blank pages all the time, connection error, etc.
I checked, and vbseo.php is the culprit.

Right now, I have to put on a balance the fact that the site is making more moeny and traffic or the fact that the server doenst stand more than 300 users online with vbseo.

I really need a solution to this.
Since 2.0.4 I was told that future releases will adrees this issue, but it seems they are having the same problem still.

I was using RC4, server load was unacceptable, I updated to RC8 a few days a go, the same problem or even worst.

I think its time for the vbseo team to re-think about this issue.

For me its starting to be a drawback, as users are always complaining of getting blank pages or connection time out error.

I've had to turn vBSEO off now. Server load has been fine since. Now though, Google has broken links. This will probably do more harm than vBSEO ever did good.... oh well.

I installed xcache, moved my re-write rules from the htaccess to the httpd.conf and already used the Ioncube version. Still load issue. :(

I really like the software, but I just can't run it on my server.

I nearly always have 300+ concurrent users/guests/bots on my board save for a few hours in the US overnight.

i have a dual opteron 270 box ,2.0 ghz with 1gb of ram, and my server loads rarely break .8 during peak times, and hover in the 6's and 7's most the time.

Before vbseo, i was in the .6-.7 range most the time, so the stress added to my box was minimal at best.

plus, I have 9 other tiny websites, 3 of which also run vbseo installed on the same server.

I don't know what the answer is, but i'm guessing its hardware or config related. your server is more than enough hardware wise, and has gobs of ram. I'm not a hardware guy, so i can't offer much more than that. All I can tell you is that your server should run fine with vbseo, and i think there's another underlying issue with your box.

try to get an optimization request in over at vb.com... see if they can find some areas to improve your server.

Done that already. The thing about my forums is I think a lot of users kill time on it - so 300 online users may cause quite a big load if they are all just constantly chatting and searching. My server load is usually at 0.6ish during peek times now.
