    Unhappy server load

purchased VBSEO 6 weeks ago and our Google results since have improved very nicely, however, our site hosting company has told us to ditch VBSEO or they will remove our site from their server as is it causing unacceptable server loads.

Is there a way to run it to minimise its use on server resources?

What does everyone else do? Use dedicated servers?

    Thanks

What vBSEO version you were running when your host reported high loads?

I think it was 2.3.x that added more optimizations, and some caching, to help with server load.

Yep, try that and let us know how it goes. If the server is not already overloaded, you should have no problems

Just 2 cents, If my host told me that I would be off anyway

You can have a site as long as you don't get any traffic, no way man move hosts.

Fair comment but they reckon I was using up 25% of resources on a shared server with only 3 members using my site at that time so its no so much traffic as the script using server resources.

Sorry, but I find that very hard to believe. I ran 2.2 for a fair while with very heavy traffic. My host watches the server pretty intensely and is always the first to holler when a process eats bandwidth / CPU cycles or RAM.

Perhaps something else is causing this?

I wish I knew what if it is.

Are you using the welcome headers mod? I've heard that the 'posts since last visit' query is very intensive.

(someone please correct me if I'm wrong)
