    Reversing a VBSEO install?

    Heya guys.

I am about at my ropes end getting VBSEO to run well with my server setup/VB install. It's just choking up my site too much and I have made all the tweaks I can make (besides swapping Zend for IonCube).

How would I not just uninstall it, but reverse the link issues with indexing that has been done by the search engines?

just like you installed it.. uninstall the plugin and remove the files

altho, there are many large sites that run vbseo just fine. I would open a support ticket b4 you give up.

    Unhappy

    Unfortunately same thing here.
I'm think to drop (just purchased) vBseo as our average cpu usage went up from 0.6-1 to 4-7.

We've also made all the tweaks (using forumids no avatar/image rewrite etc.) running with Ioncube (and xcache). We thought it's going to double our cpu usage but 5x to 7x is to much for us :(

With a pre-vBSEO load <1 I wouldn't expect it to rise that much. Did you try switching your .htaccess rules to httpd.conf?

    Thanks for the reply Juan.

Yeah I've switched now it's better (still the CPU usage around 3 but maybe we can live with that). Could someone reply to my trouble tickets ? It's been 48 hours without any reply.

    Thanks

Can someone please tell me how I would go about accomplishing this the proper way?

    Thank you,

    Dustin

My load got a lot higher after I installed VBSeo. Three things that helped my load get under control:

    1. Move VBSeo rewrite rules and other .htaccess commands to httpd.conf.
    2. Install eaccelerator and allocate 32MB of memory to the cache.
    3. Install templace caching mod from VBulletin.org here Plugin Based Template Cache - vBulletin.org Forum

In addition to that, since searching makes a pretty good load on the server, I limited searching when the load got to 3. This keeps the load from going higher and allows the load go to down. When it goes below 3 searching is enabled again. It doesn't often get to 3, but when it does it's nice to have a "throttle" to keep it from going higher. Of course you can set the load limit to whatever is right for your forum. This was accomplished by another mod at Vbulletin.org here Restrict search when the server load is high - vBulletin.org Forum

Location of apache config file may differ depending on server configuration (it is often located in /etc/httpd/conf/http.conf file).
