Unhappy Rediculous Server Loads with vBSEO...

First I should mention my site has been up and running for almost 7 years. It runs flawlessly every single day. Yesterday, I purchased vBSEO, installed per instructions and watched my server loads shoot up past 40.

I would disable vBSEO and loads would go back down to around 1 or so. This happened every single time I tried it. Sometimes I could not even access the site at all because of the loads. Not a good thing.

So, I opened a ticket. Someone gave me a generic response to check out 2 optimization threads hinting a problem with my server. There is no problem with my server. As I said, I disable it and all is well on the Earth again.

I'm sure it's some silly setting or something that needs to be tweaked but, a little support here would go a long way for me. I did not recieve any other replies to my ticket.

I checked out both of the optimization threads, implemented some of the changes, no change whatsoever. Every time I enable it, loads sky rocket rendering my site useless.

I appreciate any hekp in advance.

    Thanks,
    Miguel

What do you have for your setting: Limit URL Length

Also, what is your rewrite structure.

I did not change the setting for URL length. It is set to 0.

Not savvy with the lingo but, are you asking for the .htaccess ? If so, here it is...

    Code:
    # Comment the following line (add '#' at the beginning)
    # to disable mod_rewrite functions.
    # Please note: you still need to disable the hack in
    # the vBSEO control panel to stop url rewrites.
    RewriteEngine On
    # Some servers require the Rewritebase directive to be
    # enabled (remove '#' at the beginning to activate)
    # Please note: when enabled, you must include the path
    # to your root vB folder (i.e. RewriteBase /forums/)
    #RewriteBase /
    #RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.jdmuniverse\.com
    #RewriteRule (.*) http://www.jdmuniverse.com/forums/$1 [L,R=301]
    RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap_).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(admincp/|modcp/|cron)
    RewriteRule ^((archive/)?(.*\.php(/.*)?)?)$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !^(admincp|modcp|clientscript|cpstyles|images)/
    RewriteRule ^(.+)$ vbseo.php [L,QSA]

    Thanks alot,
    Miguel

Are you using shared hosting, or dedicated hosting? Did you make any changes to the feature default features at all? Do you have any special configurations on your server?

Nothing special that I know of. It is a dedicated and runs smoothly all the time, until I activate vBSEO and then the load shoots up. I'm willing to pay someone to do whatever needs to be done. I just want this working and doing it's thing

I didn't make any changes until a support member linked me to some optimization tips which I did but, still no real effect.

    Thanks,
    Miguel

Well, to update I pretty much did all recommended optimizations and tips but, I am still experiencing what I would consider higher than normal server loads. Hovering in the 3+ range and sometime spiking much higher. After ALOT of reading pretty much everywhere, I think I have come to the conclusion that VBSeo is definately going to increase server loads. I think it may be time to upgrade to an even better dedicated server.

I definately do not want to disable or get rid of VBSeo.

    Thanks,
    Miguel

i think the best thing to do right now is to upgrade to the latest php5 and mysql5.
both are better performers than their version 4's.

Consider, most people's laptops are more powerful than your server right now...
    it's time for an upgrade.

Yeah, on top of that I'm paying probably TRIPLE what most people are paying for better servers because I purchased the plan so long ago. The only raeson i haven't switched until this time is because they had great customer service which I'm sure you know is not an easy thing to come by in the hosting world.

But, you are correct. Time for an upgrade. I am looking at The Planet. I see some pretty decent prices there...

If anyone has any recommendations, feel free to let me know.
