Question about last post links on the Index page

When I click on a last post link from our forums homepage, it sends me to a URL with an a post id anchor on the end of that.

Example:

http://www.webmaster-talk.com/html-f...tml#post194901

How can I fix this so that it points to the thread url without that extra postid (I don't want those indexed)???

The anchor is used to jump you to the latest post.. without it it can't work.

As far as I know Search engines don't actually index anchors.

That's right - anchor part is never included in indexed URLs, so there is no reason to remove it.

Not to mention, removing it would really annoy most of your users.

I never really thought about why the anchor was there in the first place before posting. It was a dumb question but thanks for the replies
