    Problems with subscribed thread notifications

    Hi,
Posted on this earlier, but since it was in another thread, probably didn't get much attention.

Basically what is happening, is that when a user gets an email from the forum due to a thread subscription...the link included in the email does not take them to the most recent post like it is supposted to. Rather it is usually several posts back, and somethings several PAGES.

    Here is a sample email:
    Dear xxxx,

Sureshot40sw has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - Saturday's Hotties 35% - in the Misc. Chit Chat forum of the
    ??? Bulletin Board.

    This thread is located at:

http://www.???.com/misc-chit-chat/12991-saturdays-hotties-35-a-new-post.html> Here is the message that has just been posted
    **************
    i wasn't talking about to the teacher....:haha:
    ***************

There may be other replies also, but you will not receive any more
notifications until you visit the forum again.
Now this is a long thread, approaching 90 pages. This last post was on page 85, however, when it is clicked on, the link takes you to the 79th page.
If the staff members need the exact links being used, let me know and I can PM them to you. But this appears to be happening with any thread.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi,

I have never had this problem since VB3.0.x released and if I disable the rewrites, it works fine. I tried turning on active read marking...my members hate it, and to be honest, I didn't notice it fixing the issue.

    Is there any other options?

The read marking with 3.0.x was an issue because it was based on the last time the user logged in, instead of REALLY keeping up with which posts they have read. That's why this was "fixed" in vB 3.5.x.

Why exactly do your users hate it, when it works like it's supposed to now?

This is the only way to correct this issue, and has worked for everyone else who has ever had this problem with vBSEO.

To add; if your users hate it, maybe they don't understand that it's actually a superior system to the old way. Post a detailed explanation like I did. Take a look here:
