    Problems pinging technorati with threads/posts

For the first six days that I ran vbseo rc6, my site was pinging technorati with new threads and posts.

Since the seventh day, not a single thread or post has been added from my site to technorati, and even if I go to technorati and manually ping my site, it still does not report any new activity.

I can bookmark from a thread or post, but I don't want to bookmark a favorite, I want my new threads indexed over there by pinging.

I am not sure what the problem could be and have no idea what to check.

I think this is the problem. For some reason this is what was being pinged to technorati:

Today 01:24 PM [IMG Go to last post] 334 1,268 [IMG ]
    and nothing else...

What could be causing that? And now, when I ping the site, nothing... Am i just not understanding what this is supposed to do?

I thought this option was to ping technorati or any other service when new posts occured on my site, but it is not really working...

It updates services when new threads are created (new replies do not perform pings).

Ok, that makes sense, but it is not working for me.

It was creating those generic links to threads like this :
Today 01:24 PM [IMG Go to last post] 334 1,268 [IMG ]
But now it is not pinging at all when new threads are being created. Over the last 20 days, dozens of new threads have been created on my forums and not a single one has apearread in technorati. Or if it is pinging, they are not being accepted by technorati...

Net result is that it is not working for me and I am not sure why. I could use some help with getting it working.

Was your site IP banned perhaps?

No, I don't think so, unless they ban directories individually. How would I go about checking this?

My drupal based blogs in the site root directory of the same domain are being updated, just not the forums. There were only about from the forums in technorati to begin with, I don't think enough to be banned.

I have sent a support request to technorati to check if I was banned for some reason, and to have them check into why things are not working correctly in their listings.

Hopefully I will get some sort of answer before too long.

I think I am starting to see the issue...

What is happening is that the main forum display is getting sent to technorati, not any of the threads.

I just added 2 new forums, and they showed up in tecnhorati right away. The main forum display is what got sent to technorati...

I thought it would send a new thread and the text for that new thread, but it is not sending any threads at all.

Is anyone else using this successfully, and if so, how did you set it up?

vBSEO pings services when new thread is created, but ping info doesn't include thread title/URL.
After receiving the ping Technorati should retrieve thread details from your RSS feed. You can find more details here: Technorati: Ping Configurations

Btw, I don't see rss feed tag on your forums pages, you should have something like:
    HTML Code:
    <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="vBulletin SEO Forums RSS Feed" href="http://www.vbseo.com/external.php?type=RSS2" />
    Possibly this is the reason.

Ok, I had no idea that this was not enabled by default. I have now enabled the external data provider options. There is a lot to get up to speed with.

I appreciate you taking the time to point me in the right direction!

    Ok,

So I have the RSS feed activated, but the feed never updates in vbulletin.

A new thread gets created in the forums, and there is never a change to the rss feed. It does not pick up the new thread.

    This is a new thread:
How can I redirect a continue button

And it is not in the vbulletin RSS feed, which you can see here:
    osCommerce and osCMax

This is amazingly tedious. All I want is to syndicate my content. You would think it would be easier to do... I went scouring through the vbulletin docs, and I have everything set up per the instructions, so any ideas as to why the RSS feed will not update?

Also, it has been about 24 hours since I enabled the RSS external feed, and still no updates at technorati. Do I need to link directly to the feed? Or can I simply point my blog to the forums directory?

I swear it was not there for the last 3 hours... As soon as I post here it shows up.

So, for whatever reason, the threads are delayed getting into the feed for me. But, that does not explain why after 24 hours, still nothing new at technorati... I thought this was supposed to be a fairly instant process.

I have my feed up, I have pinged my site repeatedly from technorati, I have enabled the vbseo Update Services section, but none of my threads are showing up at all.

The only thing that is showing up in tecnorati is a truncated listing of my main forum page. Each forum is listed as a separate blog post like this:

    1. Marketplace

Marketplace Advertise your services Never 0 0 ...
    2. Community

Community Introduce yourself! Never 0 0 Member Articles Never 0 0 Off topic &amp; Chit Chat Never 0 0 ...
So, I guess I am asking what the heck am I doing wrong?
