    Question Problems with New Posts

I've been having issues (as per my members) with the New Posts feature of vB. In some cases, they are not being brought to "new posts", but rather all posts of a thread. Yesterday, I had a member who changed his email address and now his posts do not show up in New Posts. Very odd and I don't know what to make of it. I'm running 2.3.2 of vBSEO.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks.
    Chris

    Re: Problems with New Posts

For the first issue, make sure you are using vBulletin's database option for "Thread/Forum Read Marking Type". AdminCP->vBulletin Options->General->Thread/Forum Read Marking Type. Use the third radio option. (vBulletin 3.5.x only.)

Changing an e-mail address shouldn't make any difference, unless you require e-mail verification, and their access is limited until they verify their new address.

I see the option, but vBulletin will not allow me to select it. Right now, I'm stuck on option two.

Not sure why it would be disabled. Make sure you're running vB 3.5.2, and you could also post a support request over on vBulletin.com. If you view the help for that option in the AdminCP, you'll see the the third option is really the one you want, since it's the best one from the user's perspective.

    Re: Problems with New Posts

I know there were some problems with 2.3.2. Would your recommend a re-install of vBSEO? I guess my question is: Is this a vBSEO issue or vBulletin issue?

    Thanks.

Both sound like vBulletin issues to me.

You can always uninstall vbSEO and see if anything changes, but neither sound related to vbSEO.

    Re: Problems with New Posts

Thanks very much for your help! I tracked down the issue to a bug in Firefox that doesn't allow you to select the 3rd option. I logged into my Admin CP with Safari and selected the option. Hopefully, this will resolve my issues.

    Thanks.

    Re: Problems with New Posts

If any of your users still have issues with new posts, they may need to reset their read markers one time to kick things off.

This is how I explained the new system to my users when I upgraded to vB 3.5.x:

Awesome. I hope you don't mind that I borrowed some of your copy. This is exactly what my members were looking for...
