    Problems with 404 & Error 500

    Hi guys

I have changed host and have re-installed everything (and it all seems to be working)...

    BUT

Unfortunately, after uploading and installing VBSEO 2.1.1 I get the following problems:

    1) If I upload htaccess I get "Server Error 500"
    2) My links are 404 errors with VBSEO enabled.

Please could someone help as it was working fantastically on my last host.

    Thanks.

    Hi Lazer,

make sure your host support mod_rewrite and try to reupload .htaccess in ASCII mode.

Please also check your server's error log for more details if above doesn't help.

You will see that at phpinfo() page (search for "mod_rewrite" string).

Unfortunately, my php info doesn't show the Apache info - I did however run the script and install the recommended version - ioncube.

I am with oneandone and I have been told that mod_rewrite is standard.

Is there any way that a representative of VBSEO could FTP into my site and have a look as I would like this fixed asap - ideally before Google comes back and my PR6 ends up like a PR2 after all those 404's lol

    Michael,

did you tried to enable RewriteBase directive in your .htaccess as described in troubleshootings readme?

    Hello Oleg,

with the original file i can not open even one page of the domain without getting an error 500.

Now i enabled rewrite base and can enter.

    http://www.elektrikforen.de

The starting page works, and when i move the mouse over links i can see that they have changed, but now i get an error 404 when i try to click them.

I tried to download the Zend optimizer on www.zend.com . Unfortunately they wanted a password for downloading. I entered one time an got kicked. Now i cant even enter www.zend.com without password.....

    Both cases were resolved successfully.

In the first case (Lazer) there was a problem with PHP4.4.1 bug (as discussed here: Problems with PHP 4.4.1, but with latest PHP snapshot installed by the hoster the issue has been fixed.

The second case (Michael) was fixed by uncommenting the "RewriteBase /" line in .htaccess.

    Closing this thread.
