One users profile linking to another? Possible rewrite issue?

    Hi folks,

One of my members has pointed something out to me.

    I have two members...

    benny69
    benny/9

When I click on benny69s profile (forums/members/benny69) it takes me to that profile...no problems here.

If I hover over benny/9s profile is shows forums/members/benny-9 as the url which is obviously the wrong username and when I click on it, it takes to benny69s profile.

Am I correct in assuming this is a rewrite issue and not an issue with vbulletin itself? If so, how can I fix this? Is it a flaw with vbseo or just the rewrite rules.

    Thanks for any advice.
    Kaos

Add the id to your re-write.

If you allow special characters in user names, you must include the ID in the rewrite to avoid conflicts.

    Thanks Brian.

So I need to do this for every member that registers with a special character?

no, you need to change your re-write rule from
    [user_name]/ to [user_id]-[user_name]/
