    New vBSEO Install: Minor Issues

    Hello vBSEO Members and Staff,

Before I ask for assistance on a few vBSEO related issues, I must ask where I may obtain the smiles you have here? By far, the best set of smiles I have seen to date.

I have gone through the trouble shooting document provided with my download and have scoured the boards here prior to asking for help. My conclusion is that I have a re-write problem, but before I continue, I am asking for your input.

    Basic info:

    I'm running vBulletin Version 3.8.1 w/ vBA CMPS v3.1.0
New install of vBSEO 3.2.0 Gold
Several mods and a skin from vB.org

When vB SEO is inactive, everything is oki-doki
When active, images are missing and pages are redirected to improper locations.
If you click any of the forums catagories it takes you to the home page.

    Have a look,
    WhiteNewsNow.com
White News Now Forums - Powered by vBulletin

Any input is greatly appreciated. I will leave vB SEO active the remainder of the weekend so you may see the errors.

Gotta get my hands on those smiles

    Peace
    John

Indeed, I did Brian. I have done everything to it but give it a bath. I have rewritten it to try to go to google, as a member suggested. I deleted it and reinstalled it from original download. Gave it a nick name (bugger). Invited it over for a pint of ale.

Not sure what to do as I followed installation instructions to the letter.

Thanks for the reply Brian. Patiently awaiting orders Sir!

    John

PS Are you the same Brian as vB.org Brian?

    Hey John,

He is briansol at vbulletin.org I believe. I cannot see your issue as it seems vbseo is disabled. Please try this and see if it works, and if so, provide us with a link: [How to] Check if mod_rewrite is working for my site

Here is how it went down.

The only issue I had while installing was my server did not have .htaccess folder.

As per the instructions I renamed the "htaccess.txt" file and uploaded it to my server. It (as you might have guessed) turned into a folder icon as it had no .txt behind it. That was the only issue I can think of. Perhaps I am wrong but, I assumed that it would become a folder when I renamed it.

    I'm a , What else can I say?

You need to upload the .htaccess file into your forum root, not inside of the htaccess folder in the forum root.

exactly, it looks like your htaccess file is missing.

.htaccess (no extension) should be in the same directory level as showthread.php (your forum root)

Thanks for the quick response Michael,

Just so happens you caught it as I needed to grab content. I disabled vB SEO for 5 minutes. Sorry Michael, I really needed the content for a story at my real job. Tried the google thing from Joe (I think) and it did not seem to work.

    You guys are awesome.

Without a doubt, exceptional customer service.

Helps to add the dot before htaccess when renaming the file. Sleep helps as well.

Now where did my modules go on "/forums" and the ones that are there.............. well, some have resized themselves. Again, I search for answers. I will scan the forums and FAQ's and see what transpires. If all else fails, I have the comfort of knowing you guys are here for me.

Don't think for one second that I am giving up on the smiles. I will look around for them as well.

    You guys rock!

Well the modules are there but my navigation is a bit off. My site navigation module is pointing to my forums as before but something seems wierd.

Gave it a try. It was set to "yes" as default. Set it to no and no change.

    "/forums/index.php" displays: Invalid Page Specified

"/forums" displays forums but the modules are gone.

Everything else but latest threads on home page seems to be working correctly.

FYI The modules are showing in the vBa CMPS CP - edit pages section but, not on the public page.

Are we having fun yet? Don't forget I want those smiles -
