Question Modified Url rewriting preset but seeing old links

    Hi,

after having many load issues I've updated my servers and turned vbseo on again with a new url writing preset as setup but I'm seeing old links rewriting rules on many threads...
    What should I do?

I mean I have domain.com/forum/f12/title-thread/ as path for all threads and seeing old /forum/general-category/1245-title.html on links target.

    Thanks for help

    Guy

Hmmm I see the problem now, as I was running vbseo with a different url rewriting setup, some users have copied links with old structure and when I've modified the rewriting rules those links on threads haven't been modified.
I bet I will just have now to pass through all threads and fix that manually, right?

As I've used the basic url writing preset from Vbseo, don't you think another option would be to add a rewrite rule and use a 301 redirect to new url structure?
(Checked and I have yet many threads including those old rewriting format)

As your old forum rewrite setting doesnt include a forumid , you need to specify a different rewrite rule for each of your forums.

You can try placing this redirect in your Custom 301 Redirects:

    Code:
    '(.*)/([0-9]+)-(.*)\.html$' => 'showthread.php?t=$2'
Note: this is not fully tested and it ads two 301 redirects. I don't now if this is an optimal solution or if it has any undesired behavior.

Thanks nfn unfortunately the folder structure is different too and yes as Mert said I haven't category ID in my structure, looks like some work as I have a bunch of categories.
I see how to work on that, now just need the time too lol

    Thanks all!

That rule will rewrite this url: /any-category-you-have/1245-any-title-you-have.html

    It's working fine, thanks again!
Good thread, I bet such issue is not that uncommon...
I will let you know if I'm banned due to double 301 redirect lol
