member profile rewriting

Hi,
I know that there has been trouble with this feature in the Past, but I didn't find a good solution in the Forums.
I have a problem with the rewriting of member profiles.
I have a user "Wuschel" and a user "-wuschel-". Both lead to members/wuschel.html

members/-wuschel-.html works perfecly if I type it in. Is there a way (besides including the user ID) to fix that?

you can manually enable this option in config_vbseo.php file:

Anyone have an idea what the additional overhead would be when using the 'morechars' options listed above?

There should be no performance overhead related to it.
