Just installed but pages not found

Hi guys. I just installed vbseo to my forum, installation was easy but now my forum pages cannot be found. i get this erroe

Not Found

The requested URL /nforum/announcements/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Anyone have a clue what i can do to fix this? thanks alot

Does your server support .htaccess files, and did you upload the vBSEO .htaccess file to your forum root?

i uploaded the htaccess.txt file to my forums directory and then changed it to htaccess.htaccess The installation and everything worked fine and works in the control panel as for when vbseo is activated i get that error when trying to open pages. And yes my servers support .htaccess files

so just messin around tryin to fix it renamed htaccess.htaccess to just .htaccess is that correct? seems to work now but wanted to hear from someone if thats the correct thing to do.
