    IONCUBE and PHP5.1 or greater

If you are new to vBSEO, or installing for the first time on a new server, please NOTE:
In vBSEO 3.0 GOLD, IonCube Edition, the .SO and .DLL files STOP at version php5.0.

If your server Has a newer php version than 5.0, you need to get the proper file from the ioncube website and load it into the php.ini.

PHP Encoder, protection, installer and performance tools from ionCube: Loader Download

The 5.1 and 5.2 loaders were purposely left out of the DL package due to their size (5.1 and 5.2 are nearly 3x the size, each, of earlier php versions)

If you are not sure which php version you have, go to your ACP, and in the bottom under maintenance, click on View PHP info.

If you are on a shared or managed host, you most likely will have to contact the provider to have these installed.

If you are on a VPS or Dedicated box, you will need to SSH into your box, and update the ini to the new path of where you uploaded the file too (look for "zend_extention" towards the bottom of the file)

    There's some basic instructions here:
Install IonCube Loader for php - Bodhost - Web Hosting Forum

I am having this problem, but I don't know which file to download or understand what I need to do with it.

I know I have php5. My site is hosted on a shared unix server running apache. I do have the ability to edit the php.ini file.

If anyone could advise, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Hello,

in most cases it's Linux (x86), please try it. You should download the archived file, unpack it and upload to the ioncube/ folder on your server.

In case of using dynamic Ioncube loader you should not make any changes.

Ok, I did this, it still doesn't work. I'm getting the error message:

Site error: the file /home/u4/talkmarriage/html/vbseocp.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_fre_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.

Again, test.php confirms that ioncube is installed.

Okay, these leaves me confused and annoyed.

I'm running on shared accounts, so what exactly am I supposed to be asking my hosting providers to do?

It seems to read as stating that because vbseo employs encryption, vbseo customers have to go running around bending over backwards to make the software work.

Come on, vbseo - customer care shouldn't be like this.

In this case there is no need to ask hosting provider for any changes, it is just required to get the latest Ioncube loader file and upload it to your forums/ioncube/ folder.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm still not clear what to do - there's mention of 5.1 and 5.2 uploaders, and a link to a host of linux distro downloads. Is this where we get the uploaders, or has vbseo updated the Ioncube download?

Some clearer instructions would be appreciated.

There's a 99% chance that if your host is on a newer php version, and supports ioncube (as said so by the test script), that you won't need to do anything.

The ioncube version needs to match the php version.

This information was provided for those who maybe bought a new server and are installing ioncube for the first time.

Thanks for the explanation Brian - it's been a long day, moving 4 servers, and 2 forums down, though luckily not particularly active ones. All headaches and I'm grumpy - apologies all for that.

In that case, could you either advise which download we're supposed to use, or at the very least update the vbseo download to include the new loaders?

I've just moved two forums to PHP 5.1 servers, and have no idea which uploads to apply.

If you are using php 5.1 you need to upload ioncube_loader_lin_5.1.so and ioncube_loader_lin_5.1_ts.so to your ioncube folder.
