Installed vBSEO and forum is down - "page not found"

I have allready tried to enable the 'RewriteBase' directive with in the .htaccess file.

    Changed "#RewriteBase" to "RewriteBase /forum"

Did not work. I can access the main forum pages, but when trying to access the individual forums, the page not found message appears. Agh! :(

    What to do???

    Hi Sverre,

Do you have .htaccess in the /forum/ directory as well as the root?

It might pay to open a support ticket with ftp/admincp/vbseocp access for troubleshooting.

Confirm that your server had mod_rewrite installed and supports .htaccess files.

I have it only in the /forum/ -directory as I thought that was what the instructions said, but I'll try to add it to my root too.

    Thanks for the quit answer!

Didn't work. Should I leave the .htaccess file in my root too (Basic Roleplaying .com) or just in my forum root folder (Basic Roleplaying Central)?

    How do I confirm that?

You only need the .htaccess in your forum root, not your site root. It can cause problems if you have it in your site root.

Your host should be able to tell you if your server supports it.

    Removed it.

Okay, I'll try to get hold of my host then.

Went through my host's FAQ section:

Mod_rewrite is an Apache web server module installed on all of our Linux severs by default; it does not have to be installed or enabled. Our Linux hosting accounts support most mod_rewrite functionality.
You will not need to enable mod_rewrite in your httpd.conf, as this is handled at a global level. All you will need to do is add the desired code to the body of your .htaccess file.
    and

If you feel comfortable doing so, you can create an .htaccess file to password protect a directory in your Linux hosting account. We cannot provide instructions or troubleshooting for this, but you can find tutorials and password generators at Apache's Web site.
So I guess yes, my server has mod_rewrite installed and supports .htaccess files.

Any other ideas? Was my change of the .htaccess file correct?
Changed "#RewriteBase" to "RewriteBase /forum" (my forum folder URL is Basic Roleplaying Central)
