Install IonCube + vBSEO and Server Load Triples

Is this common? I'm not sure if the problem lies with vBSEO or IonCube - although after installing both my server load avg went from 0.4 to 1.2 :(

The vBSEO went on my smallest forum, the site that's really loading up the server doesn't even run vBulletin. I asked my server admin to install IonCube on my box because I'm not good with the ssh stuff.... did he have to remove eAccelerator for this?

Any thoughts? Previously my VPS has held up to 250k pageviews in one day with a server load under 1.... now it can barely handle 100k.

    Hello Joe,

yes, as far as I know Ioncube is not compatible with eAccelerator. You should use APC Cache instead in this case.

If you're using PHP 5.x I would not suggest APC Cache, as it seems to cause problems with apache segfaulting right now.

Please let us know on the outcome of your serverload once the APC Cache has been installed.

You have several options to reduce the overhead caused by rewriting including moving your .htaccess rules to httpd.conf (read this). Otherwise, please open a support ticket if your loads are still up. At your forum size/concurrent users, the overhead should be negligible.

I am running IonCube on my servint without any kind of php caching and it runs fine.

Something I forgot, I had my server hardened a few days before and never bothered to check the load. It's possible the firewall and other security stuff running may have caused the issue.

I'm confident it's not caused by vBSEO because my hand written php (no database) jokes website loads the server more than the two vBulletin sites I have running with vBSEO.

    Sorry for any confusion.
