Indexed pages - huge drop

Hi,

The amount of indexed pages I have in google have dropped dramatically over the last few weeks. I had 97,500+ at one point and now have only around 12,000.

Has anyone else noticed a decrease in the amount of pages they have indexed?

Note: I have changed the names of my forums and moved a fair amount of threads, but that was around a month ago. I was hoping to have noticed a climb in indexed pages again but have yet to see it!

Would renaming forums have this huge an impact?

With changing names, your stats are more than expected. You lost all of the domain age that you had from the old name. Then, renaming forums on top of it... you're basically starting over from the beginning again.

I didn't change domain name.

I only renamed forums!!

i changed my subforum named
decrease from 236,000 to 27,000

If you used a rewrite style that included forum urls, ie
site.com/forum-name/thread-123/ and it become
site.com/new-forum-name/thread-123/
all your thread links and forum links have now changed and you are undergoing a re-indexing process.

Changing url rewrites is NEVER a good idea past day 1.
