What is the crawability_seo.xml file in folder docs(do not upload) ...?

Would i need to upload this somewhere to get it to work?

For vBulletin 3.0.x the instructions are slightly different and included in the 'docs (do not upload)/readme.htm' file...

    Basically you need to:
    1) edit your '/includes/functions.php' as described
    2) edit your footer template (add the copyright comment: ><!--VBSEO_COPYRIGHT-->)
    3) CHMOD 666 your 'vB-root/includes/config_vbseo.php' file and then access your vbseocp.php control panel.

    Re: I can't install this...?

    Thanks for the help Juan...
Support for vbSEO is excellent & goes much futher than most internet companies.

I did have one question which is bothering me & something iv'e never been certain of the answer.

My linking to my forums has always been,
    http://www.widgets.com/forums

But i now notice that VBSEO redirects,
    http://www.widgets.com/forums to http://www.widgets.com/forums/

    Notice the /

What i would like to know is if a search engine considers these two links as seperate?
Obviously there is a possibilty because a 301 to http://www.widgets.com/forums/ should not redirect http://www.wdigets.com/forums in my opinion.

    In either case...

Is it possible to set VBSEO to 301 to http://www.wdigets.com/forums without the / ?

Should i change all my inbound links to http://www.wdigets.com/forums/
(this may be hard to get link partners to do).

Does anyone know the answer to this puzzling question?

    Hello,

if you have the forums/ folder, the redirection is done by apache *without vBSEO*.

    You can try: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum

    Re: I can't install this...?

Sorry, i am realy not sure what you mean...

    Vbulletin does not do 301's...

What i am asking is if i should change the internal links to http://www.hostcompanies.com/forums/

Or if it is best to do the 301 to
    http://www.hostcompanies.com/forums

If so, can it be done in VBSEO or will i need a custom hack?

    Re: I can't install this...?

What I mean is that it is redirected without vBSEO installed as well (this redirection is not performed by vBSEO), please try it (I've posted an example link to a forum with no vBSEO installed).

    Re: I can't install this...?

Thats very strange.. i know mine never did that without VBSEO installed but i am using an early VB 3 version ( 3.0.0 )

Do you think it makes a difference if my inbound links are
    http://www.hostcompanies.com/forums/ or http://www.hostcompanies.com/forums

    ?

In terms of SEO this is something that always made me curious...

I believe, that it should be redirected in the same way (you can check that by disabling vBSEO for a moment)

    http://www.hostcompanies.com/forums/ or http://www.hostcompanies.com/forums

Since there is 301 redirection from /forums to /forums/, the value of backlinks should be transferred to the last one automatically, I think. However, it's better to have direct links to correct URL anyway.

    Re: I can't install this...?

I think google knows they both are the same:
    /forums
    /forums/

But as Oleg said, I'd always try to use direct links.

    Re: I can't install this...?

I did try to change it to a direct link but in the vbulletin admin panel it said not to use a trailing / for some reason...

Maybe its something to do with their coding.

I guess i have to leave it as it is.

Yes, you will have forums URL *without* trailing slash in vB admincp options, but the URLs within vB have slash added automatically.
