    HUGE Problem: SE's seeing nothing

I know the title was vague - let me explain.

We have VbSEO on our forums (forums.adoption.com)

We noticed a reduction in traffic recently, so I set off trying to research it with one of our developers. We did find some minor problems, which we resolved (incorrectly reported 404's, one bad redirect and inconsistent url structure - which caused a lot of redirects).

Anyhow - I got an IM from the developer today (I am home sick) and I am floored.

He said he installed an add-on to his firefox which allows him to view our sites using a useragent (googlebot, slurp..etc) and when he did this, he couldn't view our site at all...what he saw was blank pages.

What this means is that Google/Yahoo Etc are all seeing blank pages. It's the reason we're falling like a lead balloon in Search Engines, thus resulting in less traffic.

Can anyone give me any tips on this? It happened in Mid February - as far as I know, I've not made any changes to our site which would result in this action.

Any help/tips you can give would be great...I just need this resolved, ASAP!

vBSEO doesn't appear to be running on that site. No vBSEO Copyright is shown in the footer.

We don't use software where we can't use "Branding Free" - I believe we talked with Joe about this before purchasing this and our other licenses.

I'll have to dig through my emails.

Brandy - please forward me a list of the domains you currently have registered with us in case there are any that we do not yet have assigned.

FYI We're checking into the problem you reported. It seems to be local to your forum.

    Hello,

probably this is related to the SE activity logging function based on vBSEO Sitemap Generator. You have an outdated version of Sitemap Generator, please install the latest v2.0 from downloads area.

Based on the initial responses given (which have now been deleted) I'm not sure we'll continue with the product.

I don't want to deal with a company whose staff's first line of defense is to attack a customer.

We'll work this out on our own, or take the hit in Google for removing the product.

Thanks for the attacks tho...that was comforting.

Actually, they were removed by mistake, and have now been restored. I don't see an "attack" though? I stated that your site wasn't displaying the copyright line.

We do not offer support to sites who violate the license agreement, and your site was not displaying the vBSEO copyright line (nor is your license flagged as "Branding Free")

There are currently only 3 sites that own a branding free license of vBSEO (from the eBay specials that were ran recently), and your site was not listed as one of them. If you do indeed own one of the branding free licenses, send the receipt/other details to Joe Ward so that your license can be updated.

    Hi Brandy,

I think our first step should be to get your both sites upgraded to 3.0 GOLD, and update your sitemap.

Let's see if that solves your problem first. We certainly don't want to see you remove vBSEO.

Apologies if you found any of the posts in this thread offensive. I'm sure they were not intended to do so.

    PM Sent.
