.htaccess problem - page not loading

I am doing an initial install for a site that that is not open yet. When I upload the .htaccess file I can not access the site...

My forum is here....

I uploaded the .htaccess file here...
http://www.usamusicians.com/forum/.htaccess

This is the error I get...

Not Found

The requested URL /home/com/usamusicians/html/forum/vbseo.php was not found on this server.
Apache/1.3.41 Server at usamusicians.com Port 80

I believe that path should be:
/home/com/usamusicians.com/html/forum/vbseo.php

When I remove the.htaccess file I can see forumhome but when I click on a forum I get this:

Not Found

The requested URL /forum/introductions-forum/ was not found on this server.
Apache/1.3.41 Server at www.usamusicians.com Port 80

So.. all I have to do is go through the install instructions and that's it.. Or do I have to do anything else? I have seen people talking about sitemaps. Is that something that I need to do?
