This worked flawlessly on the first try.. thanks much, Juan.
Im guessing this helps server load slightly because its being caught immediately at .httpd.. instead of having to go through the /home/www/forums/ directories first and then seeing the rules.
Actually more than that... when using .htaccess you are hitting the server once per request as opposed to httpd.conf that will get loaded once when Apache is re-stared![]()

Thanks, I will also try this approach.
I also have more load since upgrading to vb 3.6.0 and latest VBSEO which causes problems. Earlier today when it was slow the load was 20+ but falled back to more normal levels shortly thought.
Now I turned off show users online, show users browsing threads and create similar threads when creating a new thread as a temporary solution to decrease the load.
Yes, let us know how it goes.
3.0 is the fastest vBSEO yet. So, I would expect your loads to drop with the latest vBSEO, unless there's something about the new vB that is causing increased loads.

I have a question. I don't face server load problem that much but i have a dedicated server so shall i move my .htaccess into http.conf file also ? And what will i have to do with the .htaccess file i have in my gallery folder ? do i have to move that to http.conf or just live it there ?

Slightly off-topc,
but what do you think about renting another server and moving mail/database (and maybe second DNS) to that one and let my current server just handle http?
