Having problems after the vbseo install...

Running vbseo 3.1 on vb 3.6.8 on pnwriders.com

The forum has over 1 million posts and 63 thousand threads, and I installed the vbseo onto it and it worked fine. I installed the Site Map generator also, and ever since then - my server has consistently crashed under heavy load. We had 300+ users on at one time during the first day after the vbseo install and the server crashed, forcing me to reboot. We hit that again the second day (today) and the server crashed forcing me to reboot.

Traffic is definitely picking up after just a couple days, but now my server is a concern. I have had no problems up to this point, it even was optimized by the vb staff but that was before the vbseo route.

What can I do? Is it just get a new server?

I recently disabled the sitemap generator, wondering if that is contributing to the problem.

Any insight or help or advice would be greatly appreciated?

I am new to this vbseo stuff, but want to see it working before I plunk down on another 10 licenses ya know.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Daniel ,

Please make sure you add a delay n execution of each sitemap file within AdminCp/vBulletin Options/vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Settings.

Forgive my ignorance, but would you please instruct me how to do this?

Please locate vBulletin Options within AdminCp and expand vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator settings. Within the settings look for Delay Execution After Each Sitemap File (which is the 4th setting from bottom) and set it a value like 30 . This will put 30 seconds of delay on each sitemap generation which will help you to ease the load on the server.

Yeah, have not had any issues since disabling the site map. Site seems to be running just as fast as ever.

So should I reinstall it back on?

Yes - it's important. Try increasing the delay as Mert stated to see if that helps.

Can you please tell me the pro's and con's to having a longer delay in sitemap generation? Why wouldnt I just choose a delay of 60 seconds (rather than the recommended 30)? How often does Google need to pull the updated Sitemap - why? Is there a link you can provide to educate me on this, please.

Hello Daniel ,

Execution time can be changed according to the server's needs. unfortunately creating sitemaps are sometimes a little harsh. In order to ease the load level on your server you can setup a delay within the execution of each sitemap. So when choosing the right delay time you must check your server status. If the load levels go crazy you may want to add 60 seconds or so. Google check your sitemaps daily for updated info in order to index your site better.

Hello Daniel ,

Can you please check your scheduled tasks and manually edit vBSEO Sitemap Generator task. Please check if you have defined an hour and also a minute to run the sitemap generator task. If there is no minute defined please define one.

Sitemap generator has been turned off, and has remained off. It crashed again this morning. I'm going to have to disable vbseo until I figure out what is going on.
