Google Page Rank 0 out 10

Okay, so I get this random solicitation voicemail from a SEO company yesterday. The voicemail stated that my Google page rank was 0 out of 10 and that for a fee they would get me to a 9/10 or a 10/10. Being a neophyte I didn't really know what a Google page rank was so I looked it up. I also did a search to figure out what my google page rank is and did discover it is a 0 out of 10.

So, without beating around the bush..... What gives? Why is my page rank so low considering my forum is the only forum around for financial planners and I've been using the vbSEO plugin for more than a month now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In addition to that I am experiencing a lot of errors as reported by Webmaster Tools.....30 crawl errors in sitemaps, 51 not found, and 11 unreachable

First off, I highly doubt they will get you a PR of 9 or 10. PR is based on backlinks to your website. Building backlinks will take some time.

Also PR is something that should not be to concentrated on.

Don't worry I am not going to spend $500 a month to hire an SEO guy. If I could afford that I would drive a nicer car.

Okay, I won't concentrate on PR. But shouldn't I have a higher PR than 0? Also, can you you please address the errors issue.

I've been using the vbSEO plugin for more than a month now.

Well I've been using it for nearly 2 years and my pagerank is only 3 - and before I installed it my pagerank was 6. So if you figure out the answer, please DO tell! I asked in the support forum, they told me to ask here.

PR is not updated live. Google chooses when to update it. It normally takes a few months each time.

What are the sitemap warnings?

Not a problem

pagerank is basically a worthless metric. The best thing to do is to simply ignore it. It has zero bearing on traffic or popularity of your site whatsoever.

Unless you are cnn.com or facebook.com, you'll never see PR9. I think only google themlselves rank as PR10. most big sites top out around pr6 or pr7 for a select few.

Most large forums are pr3-5 ish.


Either way, it has no bearing on traffic to your site or the quality of your content, so the best thing to do is to simply delete the email from the so-called 'seo firm' who really doesn't even have a clue about anything.
