| google cache incorrect path to statusicons and images?
Google cache is showing incorrect paths to all images and status icons on one of my sites. The cache of forumhome displays images fine, but forumdisplay and showthread have broken links. vbseo.com seems to have the same problem (follow the link below and click on the cached version of the linkbacks forum at vbseo.com for example) : site:vbseo.com/linkbacks - Google Search Images are not displaying because google is looking for an "images" folder in the "linkbacks" directory instead of using the correct directory relative to forumhome (which should be vbseo.com/images/...): https://www.vbseo.com/linkbacks/imag...n_1.0/logo.gif <-Returns a 404 Note: the non-cached version of these pages display all the images correctly. How can I get all images to show up correctly in the google cache? I have another site using vbseo and all images are cached fine. |

misc.php?do=linkbacks is the true path. /linkbacks is a custom rewrite rule, and that may be the culprit. |

It happens on any forumdisplay or showthread page -- I just used "linkbacks" as an example. site:vbseo.com/ - Google Search Click on any cached link from vbseo.com that is a showthread or forumdisplay page and you will notice the same problem with the relative image paths getting messed up. Any help on this would be appreciated |

i think it's a problem with google. if the source is /path/file.ext, it's going to look up based off google.com/cache? instead of vbseo.com The only real solution to this is to include vboptions[bburl] as a prefix on EVERY link... and frankly, that's a vbulletin problem, not a vbseo one. proof: vBulletin 3.8.0 Beta Release Discussion - Page 22 - vBulletin Community Forum vbulletin shows the same way with the cache. |

I'm still a little confused -- in the vbulletin.com/forum example, no images are missing. I searched through some of the cached pages, and while the css style is messed up in a few, I didn't see any missing images with a red (x). My concern isn't so much the appearance as it is all the broken image links -- this may be a turn off for somebody who views the cached version of the page when searching for something. It seems like all the sites without vbseo are indexed with correct image paths which is why I was wondering if maybe one of the rewrite settings is causing it. It still doesn't explain why another site on the same server with basically the same setup doesn't have this problem in google cache. |
