Forum agonizingly slow after installing vBSEO

Is there any standard procedure after installing to speed up the forum (if only to former levels)?
If so, I missed it. Our forum (and whole site actually (same server)) has been very, very slow since we installed vBSEO. Isn't there a way to hardcode the URLs or something? The constant rewriting is apparently sending our server over the edge, and some links aren't even working anymore because of it.
Right now I'm keeping vBSEO installed pretty much because I paid so much money for it.

Felix, if you have particular URLs that are not working, this could be some other kind of issue. Please post a support ticket including samples of such URLs:
