    Unhappy Fatal error during Upgrade

    Hello Members,

I have a small issue which I would like to get support from. I upgraded my forums from vBulletin v3.5.3 to v3.6.1 (Stable One).

More over I had vbSEO v2.3.2 and though of upgrading to the latest version available for download (v3.0 RC5). I downloaded a copy and as suggested I had to import the xml file though Plugins>Manage Products> and get it done.

But I have a issue here, after the xml file was uploaded, I got a error and now I am not able to access the admincp nor the forums, I get some strange errors. One of such error while visiting my admincp is:

    Code:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: vbseo_complete_sec() in /home/dream/public_html/forums/includes/init.php(317) : eval()'d code on line 2
And this is the same through out. I have no close as what went wrong in the init.php, a file that I never altered.

Kindly help me fix this issue as soon as possible.

    Cheers,
    Dreamchaser

    Hello Dreamchaser,

looks like you didn't upload new files from 3.0.0RC5 package (includes/functions_vbseo.php appears to be older).

    Hi Oleg,

I have uploaded all new files of 3.0.0.RC5 (in Binary) to the forums directory. Here is the new error I seem to get while accessing forums:

    Code:
Fatal error: Unable to read 24950 bytes in /home/dream/public_html/forums/vbseo.php on line 0
Can you put your thoughts on this and help me out ?

    Cheers,
    Dreamchaser

This error means that file was transferred in ASCII mode. Please make sure that you force binary mode for php files transfer (it is usually ascii by default).

Alright, I am getting it. I found something interesting while checking a solution why my FTP Client (FlashFXP) did not do something I intended to do.

If anyone is out there using FlashFXP or gonna use it upload files in Binary mode, you probably goto Options > Preferences > Transfer and select Transfer Mode as "Binay (image)" (the 2nd option in the list).

But you also have to configure one more stuff, before uploading the files. Goto Options > Filters > and remove .php extension there until you are completed with upload and after which you can add the extension back via same method and update the filters list.

The reason this has to be done because, the note there mentions "In Auto-Mode all files are transfered in Binary mode unless the file extensions is listed here". But its still good if you remove the .php extension from here after which the script worked with no errors.

And thanks Oleg for the support, probably you can keep this note (about FlashFXP), so next time somone comes out with same problem, you can throw these piece of information.

    Cheers,
    Dreamchaser

    Hi Oleg,

Its my pleasure to put forward some additional details and probably you can update your FAQ with the info (if you want). The reason is many newbie out there don't tend to do some research over this and come straight to the Troubleshooting section to post the threads (I know I was one, not anymore).

I believe most FTP Clients have the Filters options.

    Cheers,
    Dreamchaser
