    DIGG URLs The Return

Got vbSEO 3 rc4 working just fine.

All but digg work just fine.

In posts: digg URL submission button for posts gives digg a headache - "Are you sure thats the right address?"

In Linkback: digg url works just fine...

Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

    Check it in forum.treonauts.com

ps. some of the engines support notes which you can pre-fill for the user if you want... I'm sure you know all this but you can grab example URLs from a little addon I wrote for typepad... Treonauts | Dedicated to your Treo 700 & 650. The Perfect All-In-One Communications, Information & Entertainment Tool. bottom of each post are the usual tag network icons.

    Sure brian,

If you go to this post for example:

Left-handed Scroll Bar - Treonauts Forum

And click the digg submission icon in the post, digg says:
"Are you sure that's the right address?
This doesn't appear to be a working link - please check the URL and try again."

Did that work for you ok? If so then there's something weird with my browser (tired in FF, IE6 and Maxthon2 for good measure) or something...

Whereas if you click the Linkback Thread Tool and select "Digg this thread" that works fine...

    Ahh, i see it now.

looks like your urls to the posts's are coming in wierd...

    &title=Left-handed+Scroll+Bar

Not sure where that is coming from... is that a custom mod?

Ops... that was a bad example becuase the title of the thread included a hyphen (how do I deal with that?)

Treo 750v now listed on Vodafone's website - Treonauts Forum

    Is a better example...

Are you talking about the hypens? I haven't changed the default installation config of vbseo beyond pasting my reg code...

If you like I can PM the vbseoconfig to you to have a look at...

I've got some mods installed but none that I think would cause a change in urls.

    Products installed are:

    Welcome Headers
    Microstats
    Miserable Users
    Nice Greeting on Navbar
    Smilies in QR and Qe
    vBulletin AJAX Cron
    vbSEO

I appreciate your help on this...

    briansol,

It looks like it's adding some sort of post ID to the submit URL.

The only difference between the Thread Tool Digg link (which we know works perfectly) and and individual post's Digg link is the additon of %23XYZ (where XYZ is a unique per post in a thread) in url variable.

Any help would be appreciated as I don't think there's currently a way to only have the Thread submitted.

IN the next vBSEO build there will be 2 separate options in vbseocp to display post-related bookmarks and thread-related bookmarks.

Thanks Oleg, I think it's a good idea.

I still don't know why it is the individual post digg buttons don't work yet the thread tool one does.

Like I said the only difference afaik is this additional %23xyz ... are you guys adding a post id to the submission url and if so can I change it to work on my installation - I was using the default options so I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...

Pick any thread in the forum and try it, you'll see what I mean.

Unfortunately, it looks like there is a problem digging the links with anchor appended on the servers hosted on IIS.

Could that just require a modification to the httpd.ini for the redirects? Do you use IIS to generate the links for digg, just curious as it I guess it might also be something in the php.ini?

Any info you might need let me know, happy to help if I can.

The link sent to digg is the same in IIS and apache, but it looks like digg doesn't strip anchor from the URL when verifies it and apache is able to handle this request, but ISS is not.

Yep. We will also change post related bookmarks to the same links as used for thread-related bookmarks in case of IIS server.
